WHO aka the World Health Organization has found out some scary new facts!
Young adolescents face a higher risk of complications and death as a result of pregnancy than older women.
Almost 800 women die from pregnancy or child birth complications every day. Those numbers are waaaaaaaay too high.
What's even more outrageous is most of those deaths could have been prevented.
It's incredibly sad that in this day of such advanced technology, we still have so many unnecessary deaths.
Fortunately WHO is working everyday to save women's lives.
Here's what they said:
Improving maternal health is one of WHO’s key priorities. WHO is working to reduce maternal mortality by providing evidence-based clinical and programmatic guidance, setting global standards, and providing technical support to Member States. In addition, WHO advocates for more affordable and effective treatments, designs training materials and guidelines for health workers, and supports countries to implement policies and programmes and monitor progress.
Lets do our best to support WHO and assist the women-in-need who are preggers, but cannot afford quality health care for them or their unborn babies. It's the least we can do. Right?
