The name of the man who was beaten to death in Central Texas after a father allegedly caught him molesting his 5-year-old daughter has been released.
Jesus Mora Flores, 47, was an associate of the father and helped care for some of the father's horses.
Apparently the 23-year-old father, whose identity is unknown, was working on a horse and prepare a barbecue when someone alerted him his daughter had been carried off to a secluded area.
After he heard his 4-year-old girl scream - the father ran in that direction. He found Flores on top of his child and pulled him off of her before he began to hit him repeatedly in the head and neck.
Once paramedics arrived on the scene they attempted CPR on Flores' body, but found him unresponsive and pronounced him dead at the scene.
The official autopsy report said that Flores died from "blunt force head and neck injury," and shortly afterwards his death was ruled a homicide.
The sheriff said evidence at the scene and witnesses corroborated the father's account of what happened, and the father himself was extremely remorseful and distraught that he had killed the man.
Here's what the sheriff said:
"Despite the other factors involved, this is still a homicide investigation."
Later he declared a grand jury will consider whether any charge will indeed be filed - he also said:
"This case has been very traumatizing on the child, her father and his entire family. I'm thankful the investigation is complete and that the district attorney will be presenting it to a grand jury."
The date when that special grand jury will meet is still unclear as the original scheduled grand jury were not supposed to meet until July.
What a mortifying story, and is an example of how violence leads to more violence and sometimes even death.
