A Georgetown PEDIATRICIAN and his wife face felony charges after their daughter, who's eleven years old, told police that her father inflicted waterboard techniques on her as a punishment while her mother would stand by and allow it to happen.
Waterboarding is absolutely torture - a fact that President Obama has made clear on numerous occasions.
Dr. Melvin L. Morse and his wife, who reside in Delaware, were both charged with four felony counts of first-degree reckless endangering, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and felony conspiracy.
The children are being cared for by the state Division of Family Services.
Here's what the wife said on Facebook:
"If you are media please stop coming to my house. I do not wish to talk. I am extremely shy and I'm very upset and want to just be alone so I can gather myself together. Thank you for understanding. I have asked the police to protect me and my home from tresspassors."
The investigation started after a neighbor called the police regarding a domestic dispute inside the Morse house.
Their 11-year-old daughter was later interviewed by social workers where she told them her father had disciplined her by what he called "waterboarding," he would hold her face under running water which would fill up her nostrils and run over her face.
The daughter told police the incident happened at least FOUR times.
Here's a couple of snippets of what the daughter said:
“[I] could never understand what I did to be punished. [Her father told her he] was going to wrap me in a blanket and do it so that I could not move. [He said] I could go five minutes without brain damage. [I was sometimes] afraid that he would lose track of time and [I] would die.”
The 11 year old's younger sister corroborated her sister's accounts, but said her father never waterboarded her because she was too young for it.
The father is being held in a correctional facility after failing to post bail.
Adding to the overall creepiness of this terrifying story is that the father is the author of three books called Closer To The Light, Transformed By The Light, and Parting Visions.
These books document spiritual visions associated with death and dying.
He's appeared on numerous shows including The Oprah Winfrey Show where he'd discuss his research.
For the moment he'll only have his fellow inmates to lecture to.
Incredibly sad story for the two girls.
