A new study says that yoga may help women fight depression during pregnancy, as well as boost maternal bonding.
Research claims that one in five women preggers women experience MAJOR depression, and while antidepressants have been known to combat symptoms of depression - many women are understandably reluctant to ingest medication while still rearing that baby bump.
Well, it turns out that non-traditional options are indeed available.
Here's what a researcher said:
"We hear about pregnant women trying yoga to reduce stress but there’s no data on how effective this method is. Our work provides promising first evidence that mindfulness yoga may be an effective alternative to pharmaceutical treatment for pregnant women showing signs of depression. This promotes both mother and baby well being.”
