There has been so much news and controversy surrounding the Jackson family lately.
Finally, someone is speaking up to clear the air, and that someone is Paris Jackson.
Paris gave an interview with Glamour magazine recently where she talked about her aspirations and who in the family supports her.
Unlike Janet Jackson, who doesn't want the kids to enter the entertainment industry in any way until they're 18, there are some family members who believe in her.
"A lot of people don't want me to do it. But Aunt LaToya believes in me. She heard me play a little guitar and sing, and she started clapping, 'Oh my God, oh my God.' She really does encourage me; it's just awesome of her."
Everyone needs support, it's so great at least one of her aunts is in her corner.
When it comes to trying to make it, she wants to step out of her father's shadow, saying:
"I love my dad, and I'm proud to be his daughter. I just don't think the title 'M.J.'s daughter' fits me. A lot of people think he's the only reason I'm making it, but I want to show that I do have talent and that I can make it if I try. I want to be my own person."
Sometimes, no matter how much of an individual you try to be, people will still make you feel like an outsider.
So her advice to other kids who feel ousted sometimes?
"A ton of kids at school have made fun of me; if I have to give advice to other girls, I would say, 'Hang loose and ignore them. They shouldn't faze you no matter how popular they think they are.'"
We love that she has such a positive outlook for someone so young.
And no matter what your family thinks, support or not, you gotta do you!
Chase your dreams, gurl!
