Ben Affleck loves both his family and his career, so it's a delicate balancing act to manage both of them.
Even though he loves spending time with Jennifer Garner and their three children, he still loves his job.
"I don’t want to be a stay-at-home dad. Work is very important to me. I like to work. But I need my work to mean something to me in order for me to not be home with them."
So he not only enjoys the time with his family that much more, he also is very conscious of what jobs he chooses.
Having kids helps him to be honest with himself when it comes to his career.
"Anytime you think, 'I'm wasting my time here,' the first thought you have is, 'I could go home and be with my kids.' Now, you may go home and be with your kids and very quickly start thinking, 'I wonder what's on the work front?'"
Ha! What a funny guy.
We guess it really is a balancing act. Especially when he's working on starring in and directing a movie.
Luckily, his wife Jennifer is there to pick up the slack.
"I am not very present in the rest of my life. My wife’s very patient. She does everything. If I have time, I try to spend time with the kids, even if just to be a physical presence, the bath, whatever."
Thank goodness for her!
Sounds like he's got his whole family dynamic worked out!
Way to go, Ben!
