During a game of Hide And Seek, Kentucky native Kylee Mills Simmerman found somewhere she figured she would never be found. Unfortunately, she was right.
3-year-old Kylee unzipped a bean bag chair and climbed in.
Police and firefighters joined in the search, but by the time someone found Kylee, it was too late. She had asphyxiated in the nearly airtight enclosure.
Her grandfather, a Kentucky State Representative, was the only family member who wasn't too distraught to speak to the public. He said:
"We are suffering here. We'll get through this, but it's not going to be easy. We'll just have to deal with this. … She was a beautiful child."
We are SO sorry for this tragic loss! No one should have to lose a child.
Please, parents, do what you can to avoid senseless tragedies like this one by talking to your children about what will and won't hurt them!
Babyproof your home, but also homeproof your baby!
