Honey Boo Boo fans can look forward to finally meeting Baby Kaitlyn this week!
The show's season finale will feature the birth of the Shannon/Thompson/Bear clan's newest member- and her little something extra.
We told you about Kaitlyn's extra thumb after she was first born. So now that they've had a few weeks to think it over, does the family plan to have it fixed?
Mama June Shannon says:
"She may or may not ever get surgery to remove one of the thumbs. The doctor doesn’t want to do anything right now because they don’t know the full function of the other thumb or if they’re both connected.
They just have to wait and see. They don’t want to do it too early, if they cut one off the other could have paralysis or it could make the other fingers not work, so they don’t want to make any rash decisions."
We understand there are medical concerns, but if it's possible to remove the thumb, wouldn't the family want that? To help Kaitlyn live a normal life, not looked on negatively for her abnormality? June says:
"She’s just special; I would never make fun of her. That is not right. It makes her more unique and special to us. We don’t even pay attention to it. We don’t make a big deal about it."
Well, good! It's nice that they are making Kaitlyn feel comfortable in her own home! But what about the outside world? How will they react?
Guess we'll find out soon! The season finale of TLC's Honey Boo Boo airs Wednesday at 10 pm eastern!
