Cheerios never thought their social media campaign could go so wrong.
Turns out, they were wrong.
Here's what one commentator wrote:
"As a child, my favorite cereal was Cheerios. Now that I have my own child, I don't let him eat it. I will not support a company that supports GMO's."
The protest is most likely the result of the defeat of Prop 27 which would've required companies to label foods made with GMO's. The campaign against Prop 27 was aided by Cheerio's parent company General Mills who contributed 1.1 million dollars.
The comments were less about the health risks of GMO's and was more concerned with the transparency since Cheerios has never outright confirmed they use GMO's.
GMO's? More like G'Oh Knows!
