Ever since the Easy-Bake-Oven was introduced in 1963, it was only geared toward girls.
Miz Pope started the plea after she went looking for the toy in a color that wasn't so girly for her brother, but because she had NO luck, she started the petition, which already has 45,000 signatures.
As a result of her suggestion, McKenna and her family got invited to the company's headquarters in Pawtucket, R.I., where the head honchos showed her a prototype of their new Easy-Bake, which is silver, black and blue!!
With the new product in the making, Hasbro's chief marketing director, John Frascotti revealed that they had been working on the new color scheme for 18 months already, adding:
"It's actually a product that's played with by both boys and girls. We will continue to offer the existing product too because it's so popular."
The new product is set to be introduced at a New York Toy Fair in February, and will be available in stores next summer. BUT Pope was able to snatch up the new oven before it even debuts, and said she's now probably gonna drop some dough on cake mixes so her bro can get his bake on!!
Now that's what we call a successful petition!
