A boy from Indiana who had been abducted in 1994 has been found living in Minnesota after a whopping nineteen years.
Police investigators say that Richard Wayne Landers Jr. was abducted by his paternal grandparents Richard E. and Ruth A. Landers and taken to Minnesota in July 1994 because they were "upset over pending court proceedings" regarding his placement.
When the boy's mother found out that her son had been found, even after such a long time, her husband said his wife Lisa Harter was "jumping up and down for joy".
It does not seem like the grandparents will be charged with any crimes.
Here's what an investigator said:
"By all accounts, it didn't appear he suffered from any abuse, either physical or mental."
Investigators reopened the case in September when Lisa's husband (not the paternal father) Richard Harter turned over the boy's Social Security card to an Indiana State Police detective.
That turned up a man with the same Social Security number and date of birth living in Long Prairie, Minn., about 100 miles northwest of Minneapolis. A driver's license photo for the man appeared to resemble Landers.
Incredible news for the boy's mother who hopefully will be able to reunite with her son after SUCH a long time!
