This is just plain out sad!
Last month, Dalton Dingus racked up more than 500,000 Christmas cards, which made him the top contender for most cards received during a holiday season… but unfortunately, he recently passed away.
The 9-year-old boy was suffering from stage four cystic fibrosis, which led him to have to always wear a face mask to help him breath in 12 liters of oxygen. He was also taking 18 different medications on a daily basis.
Dalton's funeral was held yesterday at the Bethlehem to Cavalry Apostolic Church in Salyersvile, Kentucky, and according to resident Kathy Smithers, his cards decorated the church.
Even though the Guinness World Records does not have a category for most collected Christmas cards, we really think they should open one up — if not for them, but to tribute Dingus.
Out hearts go out to Dalton's family.
