Beyonce Opens Up About Miscarriage!!

beyonce talks miscarriage

Beyonce is a strong, candid woman, but this is the first time she's spoken publicly about this!

In her new HBO documentary Life Is But A Dream, the Single Ladies singer will finally talk about the darkest chapter in her adult life, her unsuccessful first pregnancy. She says:

"About two years ago, I was pregnant for the first time.

And I heard the heartbeat, which was the most beautiful music I ever heard in my life…

I picked out names. I envisioned what my child would look like…I was feeling very maternal."

Beyonce was completely ready for motherhood. Unfortunately, something tragic happened. She says:

"I flew back to New York to get my checkup—and no heartbeat. Literally the week before I went to the doctor, everything was fine, but there was no heartbeat."

So sad! The news might destroy a lot of people. But this is Beyonce. She says:

"I went into the studio and wrote the saddest song I've ever written in my life. And it was actually the first song I wrote for my album.

And it was the best form of therapy for me, because it was the saddest thing I've ever been through."

We can't even imagine how painful that must have been. But we're glad you had such a beautiful outlet through which to pay tribute.

Despite all the joy your music has brought us over the years, we've never been happier to know you had it. We're with you, Bey!

Re: Ivybby – Damn bitch… she is taking about losing a child…fuck u and what u about.

  4. 4

It is a tough thing to go through. I really hate feeling this way, but there is a sliver of doubt in my mind wondering if anything she ever says or does is true or real.

I'm thinking "I MIss You" is the song she's talking about being about the miscarriage?

  7. 7

Sounds like one big Pity Party. Why is she telling us now, when she has a 1 yr. old that she won't share with her fans? It's always about HER!

  8. 8

Why is she opening up about this now, or even at all?? Answer: trying to glide over the fact she lip-synched at Obama's Inauguration! Jeez. She is annoying me now.

"The news might destroy a lot of people. But this is Beyonce."

I'm sorry, I didn't realize that being a musician with the luxury of putting her life on hold and the means of paying somebody to take care of all her business during her grieving period made her "stronger" than regular women. I'll be sure to inform all the women in my infant loss support group that when they are overwhelmed with their families, husbands, houses that need cleaning, bills that need paying, and jobs to which they must return, they should think of Beyonce because she is stronger than them and she got through it.

You, sir, are completely ignorant. Until you develop a uterus, you should stick to the trashy garbage that you typically post, and which I shamelessly read.

I used to like Beyonce. But after this, I am seriously reconsidering my allegiance. Having gone through my own miscarriage, I feel incredible empathy for her. But the timing of this is just too opportunistic for me. Where was this before? 2 years? I understand the need for privacy about losing her child, but talking about it now when so many people have her in their crosshairs about her singing is just leaving a bitter taste in my mouth. I'm glad she's talking about it but to showboat it for sympathy is despicable.

She pulled this unimportant BS to get everyone to forget about the lip-syncing. What a joke of a SuperBowl halftime. Lip-syncing and thunder thighs as big as a linebacker. She didn't lose a child, it wasn't born yet!!!

Somewhat impressive that a person widely considered illiterate 'self-directed' a special on her life story…

Re: Dilemma – its an absolute attempt to distract from the lip syncing drama. shes has a hundred years to "open up" about her miscarriage and only decides to discuss at a time when she is being critisised. she should have just adressed the lipsyncing accusations, stuck to her story and left it at that. i love bey but i'm not surprised shes gone about defending herself this way.

  15. 15

I wish she'd just shut the fuck up for once; I've had more than enough of this ignorant, stupid darkie running her mouth. The only one that into her, other than her hideous husband, is her.
    .
Re: dani – No fuck YOU. Beyonce is all about Beyonce. She's got more money than brains, and doesn't know what real suffering is. So she had a miscarriage. It happens to millions of women who don't use it in the press to get more attention (bitch already has more than enough … Beyonce is a fucking pig). She is all nigguh.

  16. 16

    what song was it?

    17

I had a miscarriage with my third pregnancy. It wasn't until I got pregnant again that I fully got over it. I feel for her and every other woman who has experienced this.

It's really hard to believe her anymore. If this was true, she would have said the name of this alleged song. There are tons of women that have gone through this everyday, and have learned to cope and stay strong without the world patting there back. Why is she so special?

Re: catalina513 – Good post, apart from the fact that I doubt she's being opportunistic at all about the miscarriage. If you reread the above article, it's Perez and this column that has pulled this sad tidbit out of her HBO documentary. She isn't out now promoting this sad occurence in the media to lessen the lyp synch thing, so…no shade on this or on her here, imo.

I really can't believe how many so called normal people donot have a life. There are some serious haters out there. I guess the life you people or living must be very very sad. None of you know Beyonce personally. Have never spoken with her. Never lived with her. You all can't read. The article clearly states she speaks of her miscarraige in her HBO documentary. You people are forgetting Whitney Houston also lip synched the National anthem. As many other wonderful singers. I don't blame her at all. It was 20 degrees. She didn't have time to rehearse because of the super bowl gig. And she is a perfectionist. She did not want to embarrass herself or our wonderful nation. Now if she had messed it up. You people would have been complaining about that. All of you should just shut up. Quit hating. It isn't like she used someone else's voice. Get over it. Also illiterate people can't write songs, read music, run a business, and be the first African american and second woman to win the 2001 ASCAP Pop Songwriting award. You people are miserable!!!!!

  24. 24

Poor Bey. I love her! Regardless of the 'haters' she keeps it classy…

  25. 25

Re: emc – Who are you arguing with? She didn't say hers was more difficult than any other woman's… In fact, she praised other women. Lay down and take a nap.

  26. 26

Re: Dilemma – You're quite unintelligent aren't you… She has an upcoming documentary and this is a snippet of it.

  27. 27

Re: catalina513 – You can't have it both ways… You honor her for talking about it, yet, degrade her for 'showboating' O_O What da Phuck?

  28. Orla says – reply to this

    28

20% of women have at least one miscarriage.

  29. 29

Re: Anabelle Whitepaws – First of all, I never claimed any desire to "have it both ways". Nowhere in my post did I state that I was honoring her. I do not honor anyone. I simply said that, having gone through a miscarriage myself, I felt for her and I was glad she was talking about it. But I also expressed my doubt as to the purity of her motivations. Do you think that Beyonce just mailed a copy of her documentary to Perez months ago and he is just now getting around to it? No. I am sure her PR people strategized with her and decided that this might get people to back off about her performance for the inauguration. So they sent clips of this documentary to the media. Perez is not the only website to report it. My problem is not the fact that she is talking about it. Using the loss of your child as a vehicle to deflect negative attention is deplorable. Her intentions when filming the documentary were, I'm sure, honest. But the too-convenient timing of this disappoints me.

  30. 30

Re: @v@ – My doubt lies in the fact that Perez is not the only media source reporting this. Plenty of other news outlets are all releasing this story at the same time. I believe that her "people" decided they needed a deflection from all this inauguration backlash, so they timed the release of strategic clips of her documentary.

And I definitely don't believe that Beyonce has anything but a iron grip on her PR team. Sothe idea of them releasing it without her consent is implausible. Look how well she kept her pregnancy a secret until SHE decided to tell (or show, rather) everyone.

Beyonce lied about her miscarriage just ask any medical doctor! When women
Experience this it does not happen quite like Bey tells it !
Early in pregnancy babies who don't thrive will begin to abort
Themselves leaving the mother bleeding and possibly cramping which
Would result in her visit to a DR or ER . Bey claims she went in for a
Routine visit then found no heart beat ?????? Sorry Bey come up with a better on !
Btw she also said she had a appt the week prior. Why? Early
In pregnancy women go every 4 weeks unless there is a complication or some sort.
Believe her if u want but that chick is a liar !
