This is appalling in every way possible.
4-month-old baby, Kian, was killed after his mother, Natalie McMillan, who was under the influence of drugs and alcohol tried to connect a plug into her TV, which unfortunately tumbled over and landed on her poor bebe.
Miz McMillian was then tried at the Preston Crown Court in Burnley, Lancashire, where she denied to have had any drugs or alcohol in her system when her son died, and said that her baby daddy, Edward Hanratty was to blame for their sprout's death.
However, after taking a few drug tests, traces of heroin and valium were found in her blood as well as in Hanratty's.
While in court, both parties pleaded guilty to child cruelty, and 25-year-old Natalie was sentenced to 15 months of prison by Judge Anthony Russell.
"Over the short life of your child it is apparent that both you and your partner gave priority to your selfish and self-indulgent drugs lifestyle and neglected the welfare of Kian. On the night he died, both of you were so intoxicated by drugs and alcohol that you probably forgot all about him with the tragic consequence that he died. This is a young woman who is emotionally detached. This emotional detachment may be long term by reason of her own life by what occurred in infancy and subsequently in adolescence."
As for Edward, he failed to show up for his sentencing and currently has a warrant out for his arrest. He also has previous charges of welfare issues with other children.
Dayum! These two were just messed up in the head. We're sad to hear that a baby had to pass over a "foolish" move, and it's very unfortunate that McMillan only got a 15 month sentence for her baby's death.
There's nothing that can be done now, but we're hoping these unfit parents are feeling pain.
