This is as awful as it gets, folks.
A 10 year old boy and an 11 year old boy from Colville are going to stand trial for a conspiracy hatched by them to rape and murder a female classmate, and possibly kill others along the way. They got so far as to bringing a knife and .45 semi-auto pistol, with ammo, to school. Luckily another student saw them playing with the knife on the bus ride and reported them.
Usually what happens is that kids between 8-12 are seen by the state of not having the mental capacity to commit crimes, especially like this. The difference here is how they BOTH had a disturbing degree of awareness of what they were about to do — from the consequences they and their victims faced, to what the act of rape meant as a form of strength and power, not sex.
After they were caught, they even told a police officer that they'd been plotting for two weeks and responded to the question of whether they knew it was wrong by saying:
"Yes. I wanted her dead."
They even had a handwritten plan listing seven steps leading up to the planned killing. Both of the boys pleaded not guilty after a judge ruled that they understood the nature of their actions and the consequences. Their reason for wanting to do this is that the girl was "rude" to them — making fun of them and their friends.
Ugh, we want to throw up! How is it that this is the world we live in? With all the beauty and kindness there is, why has the opposite become as bad as it has? What have we done wrong?
Where are these kids' parents??
