Laura Dern is one of the best actresses around town.
Which isn't too surprising actually. It is in her
Both of her parents, Bruce Dern & Diane Ladd were ALSO fantastic actors!
But just because she had famous parents there for her while she was growing up, that doesn't mean her childhood was simple.
Hear what she had to say recently about childhood in general:
"There’s nobody else to check in with in childhood, and I think that as children, we desperately need our parents to be sane and safe. This makes us justify behavior all the time. My good fortune was having endearing and complicated actors. In the case of many friends with addiction and mental illness in the home, they justify that the behavior is normal and appropriate, because people don’t want to think of their parent as crazy. I think we can all empathize with crazy even if it’s in subtler degrees."
Thanks Laura Dern for enlightening us!!!
We forgot to mention Dern wasn't just bringing this up out of nowhere.
The actress has directed a short film that premiered on Saturday on the Lifetime network called Grace.
And, surprise, it is about a teenager and her life with her mother who suffers from bipolar disorder.
We'll definitely be tuning in!
