This is heartbreaking.
NYPD Officer Rafael Ramos is one of the men who was murdered on Saturday in Brooklyn, and he sadly left behind his 13-year-old son Jaden Ramos.
Following the horrible shooting, Jaden posted a message to his Facebook, saying:
Disney just can't help but stir up controversy lately!
The latest comes from teen sitcom Jessie. The newest episode pokes fun at a little boy with a restricted diet, and includes a scene where a nanny throws pancakes at the gluten-free child.
Well fans who suffer from celiac disease, a disorder that causes their bodies to react painfully to gluten, were outraged. And they made their outrage heard.
The Disney channel released a statement on its Facebook page, saying:
"To our viewers, we received your feedback about tonight’s “Jessie” episode which some of you accessed early on Video-on-Demand. We are removing this particular episode from our regular programming schedule and will re-evaluate its references to gluten restrictions in the character’s diet. Please accept our apologies for the upset this episode caused you and your family. We value your feedback and thank you for watching Disney Channel."
What a swift response! We appreciate Disney being so sensitive to the needs of its younger age viewers.
It's one thing for adult sitcoms to make jokes like these, but a lot of times the impressionable kids who watch these shows can feel like they are the butt of the joke!
Thanks for being so conscientious, guys!
