Josh Duggar Accepts Job With Anti-Gay Hate Group!

josh duggar accepts job with anti gay hate group

This is certainly disappointing news.

Josh Duggar, the eldest son of the super-sized Duggar Family from 19 Kids And Counting has accepted a job with the Family Research Council, an organization that has been called an anti-gay hate group by Southern Poverty Law Center.

The company as well as FRC President Tim Perkins have been very vocal towards the LGBT community over the years and they have even compared homosexuality to criminal activities.

GLAAD Spokesperson Wilson Cruz voiced his opinion on the move, saying:

"If Josh Duggar wants to make a living dehumanizing and denigrating LGBT people and their families, that's his business, but FRC's lies and stereotypes need to be treated as such. Josh's new boss Tony Perkins has actually accused LGBT equality advocates of being pawns of the devil. Fans of his family's reality show ought to know that."

Josh says he will be serving as Executive Director and will mostly be dealing with the political side of the organization. He also says he is focused on promoting "family values and right to life."

Just as Wilson said, Josh obviously has a right to work wherever he chooses. But it's unfortunate to hear he chose an organization that has worked so hard to attack the LGBT community.

rather than trashing Josh, why don't you try to gpad him to change the organization so that it becomes enlightened rather than being the despicable organization that it now is.

  2. 2

Disappointed? Yes. Surprised? No. Those Duggar kids didn't have a chance with the religious zealot parents - they know no better. Hopefully as adults they will learn better but I'm not holding my breath.

I'm pro gay, but I feel that people should be able to have their own beliefs and not be judge for them. Perez I feel that you should stop judging people because they have a different belief than you. You want to be respected for you life/lifestyle, but I feel that you need to respect theirs as well.

I wish this family would stop reproducing at an exponential rate and cease their exorbitant contributions to overpopulation and the numerous resulting issues which accompany such selfish actions. *Barf*

  5. 5

Family values. That term has become a real wolf in sheep's clothing. It sounds so positive but what it really means is discrimination against anything other than one type of family. And 'right to life' means legislated control over a woman's body.

  6. 6

That is ridiculous to have that many kids. Although Josh probably knows no other way bc of his upbringing. Not shocked at all. Wish the LGBT spokespeople weren't so loud though. They are becoming almost as outrageous as PETA. More can be taken seriously without all of the screaming complaints.

    7

Lol. With the amount of kids these guys have, I'm sure atleast 1-3 of them is probably gay. I feel bad for them.

  8. 8

Re: mg – Yes, everyone should have the right to believe what they want. The problem is that some of these group actively promote legislation that makes it illegal for others to live in equality.

  9. 9

With a mother that treats her vagina like clown car, what did you expect? What an embarrassment to the US. No wonder Europeans thinks we are simple and unsophisticated.

  10. 10

Why is this any surprise? When you come from GREEDY, EVIL, HATING & SEX ADDICTED PARENTS, this is what the kids turn out to be….GREEDY, EVIL, HATING, & SEX ADDICTED
    KIDS!

  11. 11

Poor little boy; look at his face, he already KNOW his parent are going to kick him out of the house at 14 when he tells them HE'S GAY, and he'll commit suicide at 16 from an Heroin OD while living on the streets.

  15. 15

What a hateful family..they act so perfect, but I bet they have some deep dark secrets. Also having that many kids is just disgusting..there is a line. Stop over populating…Just because you don't agree with someones way of life doesn't mean you have to be such a hateful bigot and go out of your way to make peoples lives miserable. I'm not religious, but one would think any God would love all his "children" and not judge others.

    Here's the FRC

Tony perkins is the president See the link about him and his Kluxer pals

George Rekers is one of the founders of the FRC andand worked at NARTH which claimed to fix gays

Rekers couldn't eve fix himself. As usual many of the worst of the worst of the anti gays are simply closet cases filled with self hatred by their right wing churche s- usually southern baptist / evangelicals

BTW when george Bush Jr was running for president, i cam to understand that "family values" is code words for hatred of gays, and sometimes even Jews

We're talking about the "moral majority" which, fortunately is no longer either moral or a mjaority

    21

Southern poverty law center is a hate group.
It should first be recalled that the actual SPLC report was terribly flawed, as I and a number of others pointed out.   For example, based on the report, if you state that kids do best when raised by a mom and dad (as opposed to two moms or two dads), you are propagating a known falsehood.   Or if you agree with the many therapists and psychologists who argue that a child’s upbringing and early-life experiences (including being sexually abused) play a major role in the development of his or her sexual orientation, you are propagating a known falsehood.   The same is true if you claim that hate crime laws could lead to the arresting of pastors who criticize homosexuality (this has already happened in Sweden, England and Canada), or if you argue that it would be detrimental to the military to have gays serving openly.   Yes, according to the SPLC, disseminating such views officially constitutes “hate.”

  22. 22

Never trust a man who won't let a womans body heal after pregnancy

  23. 23

I think many fans of the show are extreme-right fundamentalist Christians themselves. That's why they like the Duggars in the first place. I'm sure this move from Josh Duggar just give them all the more reason to love the family. None of this is a surprise. Jim Bob has also tried weaseling his politics with a brief stint as in the Arkansas House of Representatives. Thank god he never made it much further than that, losing 2 Senate elections. But I'm sure little Joshie is trying to pick up where he left off.

In other news, it's nice to know that with all the unemployed college grads, Family Research Council will hand out an Executive position to someone whose only credentials are a used car lot owner and reality tv show star (no, I don't consider his online, questionably accredited CollegePlus "degree" as college education).

I am amused reading the visceral comments being espoused that the family values group is considered the hateful ones. Just because someone has a different opinion doesn't make it hate. On the other hand most of the comments left here would qualify as hateful.

  25. 25

Re: hotterthanhale – When you try to force those values on others through legally mandated discrimination it most definitely is hate. Don't kid yourself.

  26. 26

Re: mg – It's not enough to just agree to disagree when peoples' rights are at stake. I don't believe the world is straights vs gays like Perez seems to believe it is, but no progress can be made without a serious discussion. Look at the civil rights movement in the 1960's- What if people had just agreed to disagree then?

  27. 27

Re: rosebud99 – My favorite is how The National Organization For Marriage is actually AGAINST marriage. I think it really showcases how important language is.

  29. 29

If you are surprised by this, then you obviously never read why his parents have enough kids to form their own country. This seems about accurate for a family that believes you pop out kids until your ovaries shrivel up. They aren't exactly up with modern times.

  30. 30

Re: joethehobo – So true. When they put a positive spin on what is really pure discrimination, it makes it more palatable, and easier for people to let it slide.

Josh had a aunt, Michelle's sister who is openly gay & has been wither partner for 30+ years and has appeared on the show. So it is okay for Josh/Duggars to make money having a family reunion show on TLC hugging their aunt and then go work for the FRC. If Josh wanted to go work for a family values group and support pro life that is his choice but Tony Perkins has made some harsh statements that have nothing to do with rights or values but blanket statement about specific groups that are untrue.

I'm a gay man married to another man. A year ago my hubby and I went to one of the Duggar family book signings and we were very impressed how sweet, accepting, fun and loving the whole Duggar family was to me and my husband. I was very surprised how they treated us, eventhough they all knew we were a gay couple. We asked Jim Bob and Michelle advices on marriage and on top of them both being very smart, they were also very cool and respectful of our choice. We met Josh and his sweet wife Anna and they were also really great people. Their belief doesn't interfere in their love for people in general. Hubby and I became their fans for life and we wish the Duggar family all the best!

Re: mg – From what I've seen of the family they are dedicated to their Christian beliefs, and instead of just saying they are Christians they try to live their beliefs as best they can and have raised their children to do the same.In my opinion, children who are given parental guidance, taught to work for what they have, give to others less fortunate, have a decent moral compass and taught to work on a marriage so that the other person feels valued, and to try to live a decent God-fearing life is hardly a child who "don't stand a chance". I've seen that family accept all kinds of people who don't live a life that agrees with their faith, they hardly appear to be "zealots". I find it ridiculous that whenever a person or a group disagrees with certain liberal views they are labeled a "hate group". Sure, those Christians hate everybody! Stupid article.

    46

Re: Gay Hubby – I have no opinion either way on gays. I do have Christian beliefs, and like the Duggars one of those beliefs is that it's not for me to judge. I'm not God. What I really find hypocritical is that Perez Hilton-who spews more hate than practically anyone in entertainment-labels any group that disagrees with his views anti-whatever HATE groups, just like everyone else in the liberal media does. That's not narrow-minded and judgemental? What a joke.

Attitudes like yours are what is ruining our country. Name calling doesn't get anyone anywhere. You are complaining about hate while hating on a select few - ie republicans. Why is it ok for you to discriminate?

  48. 48

So you only respect the rights of those who agree with you, is that what you're about, homo? Duggar has the right to his beliefs and has the right to express his opinions, whether you like it or not. It's intolerant bigots like you, Mario, who make this world a dark place, and you ARE an intolerant bigot.
    .
Re: rosebud99 – They have the right to promote that legislation, just as the homo who owns this site has the right to promote contrary legislation. WTF is wrong with you that you can't see that? You're as blind and as stupid a bigot as Perez is. The homos should be the only ones allowed to promote a lifestyle? Are you honestly that fucking dumb?

  49. 49

Re: TS – There is nothing wrong with discriminating against blacks. They're a bunch of shiftless, lazy criminals expecting everything to be handed to them because of a slavery none of them has ever experienced. Put 'em back in the fields to pick cotton, which will help them earn their keep is what I always say. Don't like my opinion? Tough shit. The Constitution gives me the right to express it, and there isn't one fucking thing you can do about it, loser.

Here's the thing. As many names as they call that group, you have to remember The APL group has been called just as many. Before you judge based on something they say look up the history of Morris Dees. & I believe it's much better for a man to be honest about who he is than to live a lie. Especially for himself, much happier life. But seriously , look up Dees history before you judge the Duggar boy based on the name calling.

    53

If you read about the groups founder and all the hateful things and talk they spew you will come to the conclusion they are a hate group. I don't know how this will affect the show because I think people will be turned off if they allow any of Josh's politics into it. One reason people were interested was because they weren't political. But Josh could not find a more hateful group if he had joined the likes of the KKK who this group is compared to. Having a difference of opinion is one thing, but they are calling people inhuman, hurtful and horrible names, taking young LGBT teens and using a form of brain washing to try to get them not to be gay that the surgeon general and others in medicine and psychology will tell you is extremely harmful. How can a family that preaches Love join a group that does the exact opposite? No this is not about a difference of opinion…it's about hating others for their very existence and wanting them extinguished…a holocaust mentality.

Fundamentalists misrepresent this type of behavior. They say they are simply stating their views on the isse of lgbt….and that everyone has a right to their own views. Of course its true that everyone has a right to personal views BUT that is not what theyre doing. They are openly promoting hateful ideas. If they follow Jesus as they claim to, then the first thing they should do is be HUMBLE and treat their fellow man better than themselves. These types of ' christians' are destructive, they slander the God they claim to serve. Jesus never went on hate campaigns, he showed tender love and served people, we will be surprised at the people we DONT see in heaven one day…those who thought they served God….but actuality is God has nothing to do w their hatred

    Really?!?
I am gay and believe it is his choice to take any job that pays him legally, but in doing so he should understand that there may be a backlash against his families show. Hopefully some of the children from his tribe will get out from under their mom's skirt and go out and experience the world and form their own opinions about how we are all on this Earth a short while together and have to be responsible and "live and let live". Hopefully they will go out and meet gay folks and realize that we are no different than them. The world is changng and changing fast….The Duggars better catch up or their belief system will be as out-dated as their mom's hairstyle. And who knows, maybe the oldest Duggar has a gay child and he grow to love as his equal. I am willing to bet that a few of the kids from this tribe are gay.
