Stephen Colbert Fights Tears Remembering His Mom On The Colbert Report

| Filed under: R.I.P.Stephen ColbertSad SadFamily

The saddest part of life is that we all must face death, as everyone around us is on the same path, with the same end. From enemies to those closest to us, nobody can escape it — and yet this unavoidable and universal constant remains one of the toughest experiences for us all. We feel for those who have lost loved ones, because someday we will too.

Stephen Colbert has just lost his mother, who he touchingly honored last night on The Colbert Report. Through his emotion and his stories, we get a sense of just not only how profound her passing was to those closest to her, but also how profound her 90+ years of life were as well.

Stephen might play a caricature on his show, but for the first few minutes of his returning episode he was as real as our closest friends. Watch a good man talk about his wonderful mother, and what she meant to everyone around her (above).

Things like these are always worth our time. Our hearts go out to Stephen and his family.

that made me cry. What a beautiful soul. How lucky they were to be her children.
