It's been several months since Ariel Winter's mother lost custody of the young starlet after she was accused of being physically and verbally abusive, but now Chrisoula Workman thinks it's time for her to get back to her parenting duties!
The Modern Family actress has been living with her sister Shanelle Gray in recent months, and courts decided to extend her status as a temporary guardian back in March.
But according to Chrisoula, that was NOT part of the original deal!
Her lawyer says:
"Chrisoula’s understanding… was that the appointments of the temporary guardians, Gray and Glenn (Ariel’s father), ended on March 29, 2013, and her parental rights would be restored to her, unless the Court extended the powers of the temporary guardians only after a hearing on the merits."
Now Chrisoula is hoping to have her day in court to prove that she is a better fit as Ariel's guardian.
Her lawyer continues:
"Chrisoula mistakenly believed that on March 29, 2013, at a hearing on the merits, which was to occur if Ariel was not then returned to her, that, as the custodial parent over Ariel, she could contest the appropriateness Of Gray, as the proposed Temporary Guardian over Ariel."
We're no legal experts here, but Ariel certainly seems to be doing just fine under the care of her older sister! Seriously, when is the last time we saw her without a snow cone in her hand?? LOLz!
Hopefully Ariel and her family can get this whole thing sorted out soon, because this ugly case has been dragged out for WAY too long now.
