Former Sesame Street puppeteer Kevin Clash has already had three molestation cases against him thrown out based on the fact that they took place past the statute of limitations!
Now, the man who once voiced Elmo is looking to make it four!
Kevin and his attorney are making moves to try and have Sheldon Stephens's (one of his original accusers) case thrown out as well, claiming he filed his lawsuit five years later than he is allowed to!
Sheldon's lawyer Jeff Herman spoke out about the policy and believes it's a major flaw in the legal system:
"The statute of limitations is an arbitrary timeline that silences victims. We believe that the victims in this case are within the statute of limitations, but this ruling highlights the need for a window in New York to allow victims to have their day in court."
It does seem like an unfortunate loophole for the alleged victims, and based on how judges handled his past cases, it looks like theres a good chance this one will be dismissed as well.
We sincerely hope none of the allegations against Kevin are true, especially if it turns out that all of his victims are being denied their chance to speak out.
