Pakistani Game Show Prizes Are BABIES!

pakistani game show baby prizes orphans sad

You want controversy? Look no further than Pakistan's newest gameshow, where the prize you win is a real life human baby!

What the what??

Orphaned infants are being given away as PRIZES on this new game show, Aman Ramazan, which is obvi creating a HUGE split between those who are happy that these children are no longer orphans, and those who think these human beings are being treated like objects!

The biggest thing here is that normal adoption is a long process for a good reason — families are vetted thoroughly before they're able to bring a child home, and it seems like this game show just skips a lot of that very important step. Plus, how will these kids feel when they grow up? Like they were just some trophy to be won or lost?

Here's footage from the game show below!

But, that's not all…Here's what an expert with Human Rights Watch said:

“Getting children out of institutions and into families who will provide good care for them is critical. I think probably what triggers the [negative] gut response for people is that, on its face, giving a baby away on a game show doesn't sound like a process of careful determination of what's in a child's best interest.”

Here's an interesting fact: people who think this is crazy or wrong are in the MINORITY online! They see it as these children finding homes, getting out of orphanages and loneliness!

The show is described like this:

'The show airs for seven hours a day during the month of Ramadan in front of a live studio audience of 500-plus, has been likened to “The Price Is Right,” awarding prizes such as refrigerators, microwaves and motorcycles to people who correctly answer questions about the Quran. Now host Aamir Liaquat Hussain has been able to add babies to that list of rewards, so far giving away two infant girls to two unsuspecting couples.'

Here's what one of the men behind the idea says about it, Ramzan Chhipa of the Chhipa Welfare Association:

“Our team finds babies abandoned on the street, in garbage bins—some of them dead, others mauled by animals. So why not ensure the baby is kept alive and gets a good home? We didn’t just give the baby away. We have our own vetting procedure. This couple was already registered with us and had four or five sessions with us.

"These are the disenfranchised babies that grow up to be street kids and used for suicide bombing attacks. We have tried to show an alternative. Telling people to take these kids off the rubbish on the streets, raise them and make them a responsible citizen, not to destroy society through terrorism. We've created a symbol of peace and love, that's our show's theme—to spread love. I'm setting an example, giving a childless couple an abandoned child.”

Another newborn will be given away on the show within the week!

How do U guys feel about this? Is it so black and white, or can you see both sides? Let us know!

I've seen this show. It's one of the most popular shows in Pakistan. That being said the host is also one of the most hated and criticised hosts in Pakistan. All the memes on him! His decision to give away babies like prizes (no matter how good his intentions were) is outrageous. These kids will be forever mocked like "oh, so you were the kid given away like a prize" This will stay with these kids throughout their lives. This is simply wrong. Really very very wrong!

Kind of ironic coming from the guy who treats his kid as an accessory. I get that it's trendy in Hollywood right now to have kids, but that doesn't make them human dolls. Your poor baby is going to grow up with no mom and an obscenely narcissistic dad, just because you had to stay on trend.

This is really ridiculous. Firstly, the babies are found by Chhipa Organization which you mentioned. What you failed to mention is it's the second largest Non-Governmental Organization active in Pakistan and it's very well-established. They find about 15 abandoned babies a month. Pakistan's political system is in complete shambles right now, so any couple looking to adopt might as well try walking to the moon first unless they have connections to the higher ups. That being said, the couples that "win" the baby from the show have already been screened and interviewed by the organization. The majority of people win actual prizes - like motorcycles, TVs, other electronics, a getaway, etc. A small minority of contestants on the show are given actual babies.
I don't understand why people are so quick to assume that the people getting the babies are random people off the street. They aren't. They go through the same steps of adoption any other couple does - interviews, background checks, etc. Your article insinuates complete fallacies and makes Pakistanis look like barbarians. They aren't. Get your facts straight and don't write bullshit articles about things you know nothing about.
