dekalb elementary georgia shots fired shooter

Just moments ago news reports started popping up saying shots have been fired at Ronald E. McNair Discovery Learning Academy in DeKalb County, Georgia. The police are on the scene, and the latest we've heard is that the shooter is STILL ACTIVE, and might still be at large.

Television footage from local news outlets have been showing that students have been evacuated, but we still do NOT know about whether or not there have been injuries or worse. Here's what happened according to Channel 2 news:

'A woman in the school office called Channel 2 Action News to report that there was a shooter in the school. She told a Channel 2 assignment desk editor that the gunman asked her to call WSB-TV. Shots could be heard over the call.'

DeKalb County School Board Chairman Melvin Johnson has also told inquiring news outlets that there were reports of shots being fired inside the building.

We hope nothing has happened to ANYONE in that building, and that whatever is going on is stopped immediately without harm to to a single person!

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE!!

The suspect is in custody!

On top of that, it's being reported that ALL the children have apparently been accounted for. No word on whether or not there have been any injuries at all.

SO SCARY!

That area of Dekalb County is an extremely high crime rate area.

I am here in GA. All news outlets are reporting NO injuries whatsoever for students and faculty.

I am glad to read that no chidren were injured. I just have to wonder why the teacher spent time calling a radio or TV station instead of getting those kids out.

Funny, he tells them to call the media. Which is a really good argument to make we get these mass shootings because of the media. People will blame the inanimate object, but not the people who sensationalize and make the shooter famous.
