Not everyone needs two first birthday parties, because sometimes one is plenty!
Melissa Joan Hart celebrated her son Tucker’s first birthday over the weekend in a teddy bear picnic themed event at their Connecticut home.
And she got a ton of help from Pinterest! The actress explained:
“This is the first party I’ve gotten excited about in a while because I had the energy and the time to spend on it. My new love is pulling together a theme by posting ideas on my boards and making it come true. It was such an easy theme to work with and it’s all doable at home, which I liked.”
The invite list was pretty long, and included 35 kids and 20 adults!
But Melissa kept cool by serving simple things like mini PB&J sandwiches, fruit skewers and mac and cheese bites. As for the drinks, the kiddos got lemonade, and the adults enjoyed some yummy sangria. For dessert, they had glasses of milk with chocolate chip cookies on top and a specially made cake!
The decor matched the theme to a T, with blankets and stuffed animals for the babies and lawn games like bocce ball and sack races for the older kids.
“I tried to keep it as trash-free as possible. Most everything was recyclable — the drinks were in mason jars, the cake was served on plates and with utensils the kids could take home after. Even some of the snacks were served in reusable bags.”
One thing Melissa didn’t do that surprised us was cry! There were no tears of happiness because:
“I’m not a super emotional person, except when I’m pregnant. I’ve never been one to cry happy tears — even at my wedding. Mark had tears down his face and I was just so excited to actually get married. I’m very in the moment, but both Mark and I really try to relish the baby days because we know how fleeting they are.”
Aww! Well, this certainly sounds like a party to remember!
