Poor child, it's ears are hurting.

  2. 2

It's possible, and probable, that the baby is NOT reacting emotionally to the song, rather upset that her mother is going thru perceived pain. Frying the babies emotional future. Ya, that's great all right.

  3. 3

That baby seems to be a really old soul, don't you think P? :-)

  4. 4

The poor baby hates her singing. It's probably way too loud.. Why is that mother belting the song in her infant's face like that?

  5. 5

Aww … babies do react emotionally to music … even in the womb I hear. Mothers have been singing to their babies for probably thousands of years because they know it sometimes makes them feel better so they will go to sleep. This baby must have been born hardwired to react to music more than others. The baby's mother sings pretty good. If he started screaming when the mother sang poorly then we'd know he was born with a "good ear for music". He might could grow up to be a bigtime music producer.

Putting an infant through unnecessary sadness, stress, or just "hyping" their emotion up releases cortisol and norepinephrine. These stress hormones have been linked not only to obesity but to a multitude of other health issues. It might seem "cute" to watch a child's surprise but they dont have the skills to understand its just play - keep your kids calm unless you are trying to raise a neurotic adult

The baby smiles when she pauses, he wants her to stop! I really think this is very unpleasant for him!

I agree with the other comments. This seems kind of cruel.

  9. 9

Re: Guest – Exactly. The baby smiles every time she stops & cries when she sings. The child obviously doesn't like the singing and the mother thinks it's "cute" to put the baby through obvious stress.

Re: adg100 – I agree. He is confused about his mother's apparent distress. Maybe she should stick to happier songs.

the baby is adorable but this video was very sad… I didn't enjoyed it

This baby is entirely too young to have "tears in his eyes from his mother's golden voice." He is reacting to the way her face looks when she sings or the sound. It distresses him. Perhaps the way she her mouth looks when she sings or something like that. He smiles when she stops. Uh.. duh. This is not cute. This is a sad thing for this child to have to experience. The mom needs to realize that and stop.

That little girl is screwed. She can feel music way too much … and that can be a curse.

Mom should have stopped the second she saw her daughter was responding that way, IMO.

  14. 14

Saw this earlier on Yahoo. The baby is cute and the Mom's voice is not bad, but maybe not sing such a sad song?

This is so sad. I agree with everyone else. The baby is reacting to the mom's face/voice and the poor thing is being tortured for her. Geez, it hurt me to watch that poor baby, why couldn't the mom sense that?

When my daughter was a baby she would cry when I certain commercial with a particular Dora the explorer song came on. I inquired to her pediatrician about this and she said some kids are more stimulated (negatively & positively ) by sounds. They match the mood of the sound to a feeling and react to it.

Couldn't this woman take a hint from her own baby? It started smiling again at every little pause in her "singing" and tears were pouring the moment she started again. They were NOT happy tears. Gees! She was torturing this baby on purpose!

she has a pretty voice . I wonder if the faces she is making is making him worried.. like is SHE crying too?

  20. 20

omg the kid was not being tortured. get the fuck over it. it was cute. i really dont get the big deal. i know a woman whose baby acts the same way when listening to certain types of music. you guys are really ridiculous.

Let's hope she's not belting out Sara Evans hit for the "baby daddy".
Why would you pick that song to sing to a baby?
    Learn some Disney tunes.

When the one you love's in love with someone else,
    Don't you know it's torture? I mean it's a living hell.
No matter how I try to convince myself,
This time I won't lose control.
One look in your blue eyes and suddenly
My heart can't tell you no.

I don't want you to call me up no more,
    Saying you need me.
You're crazy if you think just half your love
    Could ever please me.
Still I want to hold you, touch you
When you look at me that way.
There's only one solution I know:
You got to stay away from me,
    Stay away from me!
