But that doesn't mean they want their son James and their twin girls - Marion and Tabitha - not to have good manners and be polite!
Which is why SJP requires her children to write thank you cards. No exceptions. Even for four-year-olds!
“My daughters write thank you notes, and they’re just learning to read and be able to spell. It takes a significant amount of time just to do one, and they need a lot of adult supervision.”
Obviously her daughters "aren't required to do as much" as their big brother, the reasons she's making her daughters start this process at such an early age is so they'll be adept at it in the future! She said:
“Eventually they will be expected to share their appreciation with someone.”
And if you're wondering how creative their thank you cards are - wonder no more - because her kids are super artistic!
The proud momma said:
“They’re all preternaturally gifted artists — they probably spend 80 percent of their free time drawing. Every morning before breakfast, we have to drag them away from drawing and painting, even my son. They’re far more gifted than I ever was.”
Wow! Since SJP is SUPER gifted that must mean her kids are like out-of-this-world gifted! But that doesn't mean SJP doesn't have rules for them.
Here's one of the rules she enforces:
“Since I was a little girl, we were not allowed to buy valentines, and my children do the same thing — a piece of cardboard from tights or pantyhose, they have to cut out their own construction paper, cut out their own doilies. We do it every year.”
But don't expect this momma to reveal what her favorite piece of art is from her kids! She said:
“You can’t pick a favorite when you have three kids!”
Very true, lady!
Very true and very smart!
Now that's what we'd call good parenting!!!
