Kansas Lawmaker Proposes Bill To Allow Spanking Children! Even With Bruising!! WTF! What Year Is This???

tumblr n0m0yy2jmf1r4gei2o1 400

We're shocked that there's still a law that allows teachers and caregivers to legally spank children.

And we're even MORE shocked that a Kansas House member wants to make it so adults can hit these kids harder!

And Kansas House member Gail Finney, D-Wichita says the bill is designed to bring back parent rights!

Um what?

The bill would allow up to 10 strikes of a child's hand, and could let adults hit them hard enough to allow bruises and redding.

The person who originally proposed the bill also believes that this law will define what one can do with regards to spanking and what one can't do.

McPherson Deputy County Attorney Britt Colle said:

"This bill basically defines a spanking along with necessary reasonable physical restraint that goes with discipline, all of which has always been legal. This bill clarifies what parents can and cannot do. By defining what is legal, it also defines what is not."

Thankfully the bill has a lot of opposition. Its detractors say the bill seems like it was created from another time, another place.

Here's what one opponent said;

"Twenty, 30 years ago, we didn't sit in car seats, and we do now. So maybe they did spank or were spanked as a child, but now we have research that shows it is less effective than time out. It tends to lead to more aggressive behavior with a child."

We absolutely agree with that! In fact, if it were up to us, we'd not only shoot this bill down, but the whole kit and caboodle that says caregivers and teachers can hit kids.

People in favor of the law believe it will make sure their authority is recognized by children despite the fact that 30 other states have decided to ban corporal punishment altogether.

Why don't these proponents of this bill pick on someone their own size?!

spanking is different then beating, this article describes beating, that isnt ok. u should never strike your child from anger or for pain.

i however feel how a parent discipline their child is up to them, and a occasional tap on the boot goes a long way.

or we can just let them do w.e and have more biebers and boo boos ugh

I had my ass smacked. I grew up fine. It's PC parents like you Perez that are turning the next generation lazy and self entitled. How dare you use this gossip site to preach your "best friend" style of parenting when there are kids out there with no idea what the word "no" means.

I'm from Australia and you can bet your ass my children will be smacked when they do good. A smack is VERY different to beating the crap out of your kid and if you can't tell the difference then maybe you shouldn't be a parent.

I got spanked growing up in the 50's, didn't hurt me a bit, my dad stopped when I was 11 or 12. Usually just got a swat or two with the belt. The schools (at least middle school and high school) were also alllowed to spank but usually just the boys.

The word "old fashioned" is often used to imply something is wrong or bad. Just because something is "old fashioned" doesnt mean its worse than something modern. Low divorce rates are .. old fashioned. A thing of the 1920s. But is it better for society to have high divorce rates? If society wants better behaved children, it should encourage their daughters to marry wealthier men (lose the "dont date financially secure men, gold digger" rule). The babies of the upperclass have the lowest crime rates, delinquency rates, homicide rates, dropout rates etc. Not to mention higher IQs which lead to better behavior (according to researchers). Society would have to spank kids less if they married richer men to begin with. But, alas. Theres a catch. There arent enough rich men to go around. High IQ logic says you legalize polygamy (3 wives max) for men with upper crust incomes so more children can grow up under wealthy wings in quality cultural settings (but the non existent god might not like that plan. Its too high IQ for him. Non existent gods have an IQ of 0. 0 is the highest holy IQ possible )

You BREEEEED good behavior into children. You dont SPANK it into them. "wife, his grades are still low. Change his IQ genes with a good spanking!"…"we've been trying that for years now"…"get the switch!"…"oh ok. but my arms are tired". The amish people are the only humans who stumbled onto the BEST form of punishment:
shunning. Shunning (besides genes) is how they kept their crime, homicide and delinquency rates so low. The fear of being shunned by your community seems to work in modifying behavior. That is the only form of human punishment that actually had a positive effect on anything but its so foreign to other cultures of the world… .there is no chance anybody would emulate it.

When humans wanted wolves for pets…. we BRED better behavior into them. We didnt SPANK it into them. Remember?

    Hey bully bullies,

How much pot have you smoked today. Your arguments have no logic and the studies you refer to are non existent.

Go back to the bong and let the grown-ups handle this issue.

ive had been hit by a clothes hanger, feather duster, cane. this is the norm in asia LOL…but we all turn out good. so dont see anything wrong with it. parents ought to discipline the kids.

Re: SpareTheRodSpoilChild – You can lead a horse to water. "Go back to the bong and let the grown-ups handle this issue.". Pretending I'm smoking a joint is how "grownups handle" issues? Oh boy. "Your arguments have no logic ".. or your IQ is too low to know logic when you see it. " studies you refer to are non existent."….. HAHHAHA HAHHAHA HAHH A HA HAHA HHAHA HAHAHAH HAHAHH AAHHAHA AHA. "grownups" dont know studies DO exist? oh my god. Kids are worse off than I ever imagined. I guess I must have been on acid and hallucinated them.

  15. Bully Bullies says – reply to this

The entire field of psychology was built around studies and IQ has been researched for EONS. EVery facet of human behavior has been researched by criminologists and psychologists and IQ researchers. But you are too grownup to know that. "Grownups" would rather read the sports page than dig around a library for statistics or books on genetics or IQ. Grownups didnt teach me about IQ when I was a boy. They didnt teach me about genes. I had to seek that knowledge and the things I discovered would tingle your spine. Brrrrr. My spine just tingled.

    Re: bully bullies

O.K. "bully bullies" Then SITE the studies you are referring to. Please site the peer reviewed studies so we can read them for ourselves. What are the title of the studies, author's names and what University or Think Tank are they associated with…

    I will be waiting….

  17. Bully Bullies says – reply to this

I dont read books and novels (i might read magazines)… my favorite reading is statistics. Human statistics (of all kinds). I even once read statistics that opened my eyes to another paradox (i can write a book about human paradoxes if I was more articulate). The cultural group in america that believes in spanking the most (in surveys) has the highest homicide rate, the highest delinquency rate and poorest academic performance rates as adults. The spanking achieved NOTHING. The culture that spanks the least (according to surveys) achieved the exact opposite results . My dads native country in the nordic world outlawed spanking and i guarantee you the crime and homicide rate of its children is LOWER than that of any other spanking society (besides the amish, maybe. The amish spank but I still think its their shunning punishment that works best. Humans are social creatures by instinct and Being shunned hits humans right in that instinct's face). There are studies that suggest that spanking REDUCES IQ in children. The average IQ of an american is only 98 (california is only 94). It cant afford a reduction.

YES!!! The problem with kids these days… is that parents do not discipline their children for fear of child abuse charges and psychological damage. PLEASE. Give me a freaking break. We all grew up spanked and disciplined, there is a HUGE difference between spanking for discipline and abusive beatings!! Abusive beatings = psychological damage. Spanking for discipline = well-rounded adults. GO KANSAS!!!!!!!!!!

Re: SpareTheRodSpoilChild – I'm more interested in you citing the study that says there are no studies. That would be the greatest read ever. I'm not doing your homework for you. I cant POSSIBLY remember the sources of all the knowledge I've acquired over the years. Few humans have "photographic memory". Me least of all. And if I had kept written notes of it.. I wouldnt be able to find my notes (knowing me). You will have to do your own homework and your own legwork (read books). As my sister would say if she were me… "GOOGLE IT, BIIAAAITCH". STart with "spanking lowers IQ". I cant teach you IQ science here. Or genetic science. I'm not "high enough on the bong" to want to be your professor.

  20. SpareTheRodSpoilChild says – reply to this

    Re: Bully Bullies

    Correlation does not mean causation.

Nothing about this relationship suggest that spanking children lowers their IQ. It is just as likely that the children with lower IQs get spanked more often than smarter children who either are better behaved or better at avoiding trouble.
There could also be a third, unrelated cause, such as socioeconomic status. It may be that those with lower socioeconomic status are more likely to spank and their children may also demonstrate lower IQs. This is not conclusive research by any stretch of the imagination.

Re: SpareTheRodSpoilChild – …."It is just as likely that the children with lower IQs get spanked more often than smarter children who either are better behaved " <—–> ahhhhhhhhhh. See how we reach the same conclusions when YOU READ STATISTICS? Its not so illogical when you take the time to THINK. Now. I must get back to working. Nice meeting you.

Re: bully bullies – There is a difference between good behaviour and intelligence. You can be the smartest man in the world and a murderer. You just proved something very poignant to the pro-smack community.

Re: Bully Bullies – And anyone can agree with anyone else if they use selective cherry picking out of the conversation.

  25. No says – reply to this

I was not spanked as a child and I wont hit my children. I don't want my kids to be afraid of me. Parents are not supposed to inflict pain or fear in their kids. To each their own.I would especially never allow a teacher or anyone else hit my child. F that I'd move out of KC then that is just wrong that is old fashioned and disgusting.

  26. 26

And look at our society today, especially with the kids and teenagers. You reap what you sow. Spanking is NEEDED in many cases. Spanking does not equate BEATING.
