Mom From Texas Faces Deportation After Treating Son's Broken Foot With Tylenol! Seriously!

We've heard of alternative medicine, but this is just ridiculous!

A mom from Texas is facing possible deportation after she decided to skip bringing her teenaged son to the hospital for his broken foot, and instead treating the injury herself with a lot of Tylenol!

Illegal resident Mely Saldana apparently did not want to risk bringing her 15-year-old son to the hospital because she feared being thrown out of the country — which is somewhat ironic since she faces that threat now for NOT bringing her son there!

The teenager was initially injured after being thrown to the floor during an argument with his step-father about what to watch on television. The momma quickly gathered her son, and left her husband's house.

However after being told by both a doctor and a masseuse that her son's foot was broken, and needed to be treated - the Texas mother decided she couldn't afford the hospital visit, and instead gave her son Tylenol for a whole 25 days!

Eventually the pain became so severe for the young man that his mother was forced to bring him to the hospital where he was diagnosed with a broken ankle, and subsequently had surgery to fix the painful injury.

We're impressed he lasted that long! That sounds like pure agony!

The mother though was arrested for injury to a child and for failing to report a felony, and she was subsequently handed over to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

No word yet on what her fate will be OR if anything will happen to the the step-father who caused the injury.

The step-father should really be the one who should be punished if it were up to us! What's a 15-year-old going to do without his mother?

Despite her HUGE mistake in regards to her son's injury!!!

This is so sad…..so many undocumented immigrants are afraid to go to the hospital when they or their children get sick. They don't know that hospitals must treat them and cannot ask for proof of legal residency.

This poor woman and her poor son. Please don't deport her. On top of having to fear her abusive husband who probably is the bigger bread winner simply because he's a man and she is partly dependent on him, she values her freedom and the opportunities her son can have here in the U.S. so much, that she feared medical help would get her deported. Can you imagine what her everyday life must feel like? My heart breaks for her. Am sure she is a hard working caring mother who was trying to make the best decision she could considering her terrible situation. This is so upsetting. I wish I could help her.

Please don't use the term illegal, the proper term is undocumented. The term "illegal" is very dehumanizing and quite frankly no human being is "illegal."

Seems like she was more afraid of getting her husband in trouble than actually getting deported.

Re: K – They are in the country ILLEGALLY what makes it wrong to call them illegals? I come from a mixed family who had to cross borders and work hard to become LEGAL CITIZENS. You are the perfect example of someone who has taken politically correctness to a whole new level. Get out of your shell and step into the real world.

    The downtrodden don't know what they don't know. She lived with fear on several levels;
deportation, and a man who broke her son's foot. Have mercy.

Re: Panda – so before your family became legal, they were also illegal? As an immigration attorney, I can say the legal term recognized by law and courts is "undocumented" not illegal.

I'd rather die than see my child suffering for an entire month… This woman deserves some sort of punishment. It's neglect!!!

Re: Maria S – No. As you should supposedly know, there are other ways of coming over here. Work visas and education visas are available. But you should know that, huh? Oh, and why don't you refer to Plyler v Doe and other cases that openly use the term 'illegals' in SUPREME COURT. This is for you too BBE. Educate YOURSELF you ignorant ****

Re: Cathy – she took him to a Pediatric doctor in Donna TX BEFORE the hospital visit (paid with cash picking your onions from the field) and he dismissed her saying it was inflammation and couldn't get Xray until swelling went down. Get your facts right Perez instead of copying and pasting stories.

Who cares about her or her her ILLEGAL child. They are Mexico's problem not the American tax payers! What makes all these illegals feel like they deserve to break laws and overpopulate US States with their third world problems? Go home and get help there. Only Immigrants who are self sufficient and improving our society should be here. I'm sick of dealing with Mexico's rejects and constantly hearing the sob stories about the hardships they face here. If it so bad, you know where the fence is! The comments before me are obviously not from American citizens who believe in following the rules. There are plenty of immigrants who are educated and would improve our country, who also follow laws and respect our country, waiting in line to come over the right way. I do not believe anyone who cuts in line should be rewarded, anchor baby on board or not!
