Batkid Snubbed At The Oscars! Is Andrew Garfield To Blame??

| Filed under: DisneySad SadAndrew GarfieldOscarsEmma StoneCancer

Batkid got snubbed at the Oscars when Andrew Garfield walked out on his appearance!

This year's Oscars was supposed to have a touching moment for one lucky 5-year-old known all over the internet as "Batkid."

He's a 5-year-old cancer survivor and the city of San Francisco made his dream come true when they basically got the entire city to help him be Batman for a day.

More of his dreams were supposed to come true when he was set to take the stage during the Oscars!!

Andrew Garfield was going to dub him Batkid officially! Imagine being dubbed a real superhero by Spider-Man himself!

Sadly, none of that happened. It was all cut at the last minute, all because Andrew was getting a little bit too big for his britches:

"The Academy was going to make him an official superhero during the Oscar ceremony. Andrew Garfield was going to appoint him 'Batkid,' but, in the middle of the dress rehearsal, Garfield decided he didn’t like his lines. Garfield refused to go by the script. He came up with his own lines. The producers felt that Garfield’s [rewrites] were not appropriate. Garfield had a tantrum. He stormed off. Miles and his family, who were at the rehearsal, were devastated."

Oh, COME ON!! What about all that stuff involving skipping the Oscars to support girlfriend Emma Stone through some family crisis?

Was that all made up? Or was that just a convenient reason for Garfield to ditch the Oscars?

Either way, we feel awful that Batkid never got to be part of the awards show!

Thankfully, producers paid for him to go to Disneyland instead!

So at least some good came out of it, though we still feel bad Batkid got snubbed! We hope Disneyland was amazing at least.

I have lost all respect for Andrew Garfield now. How immature that he throws a temper tantrum because he doesn't get what he wants and doesn't care that his actions destroy a 5 year old cancer survivor's wish and special moment. He needs to get a heart and learn that it's not all about him. What an immature, selfish, mean jerk. I won't be going to see any of your movies anymore.

i ate lunch next to him at a restaurant in santa monica sunday afternoon. he was texting and seemed kind-of upset. if he really didn't do the show and honor this kid, he's a real ass.

If they really did want to do the segment they would have. There were a handful of other actors that could have do it. Some of who have also played superheros. If it is true that Andrew did not like his lines. That is his right not to read them. Award show writing is sometimes embarrassingly bad. Did her really have a "tantrum" or did they not like what he wanted to do and he did not like their approach to it? Also Batkid had a big day a few months ago and that was wonderful and even above and beyond anything that 99% of sick kids get. He is no better or worst then any other sick kid out there. So I am ot sure why he deserves special treatment.

Re: chanel – Did you really have so much respect for him or any other actor? You have no clue what happen and do you really think he throw a temper tantrum? Or perhaps he did not like the material. This kid already had a special moment. This was just a bonus. So it did not work out. It is not the end of the world.

Re: nfff – They definitely could have done the segment with several other actors who were present. HOWEVER, if you are asked to be on an awards show, and accept, then you are agreeing to do as they ask you and speak the lines they give you. It is supposed to be an honor to be asked to be a presenter. He is not so big and famous or great an actor that he is doing the academy a favor somehow. It is not his "right" to refuse to say his lines. It was his "right" to refuse the invitation to start with. To back out last minute is classless unless it is for a serious emergency.

Additionally, yes the child "already had a big day" but are we all only entitled to ONE "big day" in our life? Someone wanted to do something else special for the kid. WHY knock that? Yes, it was a bonus, yes it is not the end of the world but the kid is 5 and old enough to understand what was going to go on He was at rehearsals. He was all excited about this. Sending him to Disneyland is not the same. It is a consolation prize. It is sad the whole plan fell apart for this little boy.

Andrew is a total fucking tool to begin with. Give me a fucking break already. Everyone knows this douchbag is always throwing tantrums and being a bitch. Old News!!

Is this even true? Because an Oscar spokesperson said that this was cut due to time or something. And that trip to Disneyland that they sent him on? Andrew Garfield went with the family.

Any proof of what you are saying, Perez ?
You know this will be debunked very soon.

I have a hard time believing this is true. Considering that Christian freaking Bale was in the audience, they could have asked him to stand in for Andrew. Obviously I don't know Andrew Garfield at all, but I really doubt this happened.

People magazine said it was because his Girlfriends family was having a family crisis and he wanted to be with her.

Why didn't they just get Ellen to say something instead of Garfield.. I mean she did end up getting pizza delivered to the Oscars. How was that relevant?
