This is so sad.
And yet this 3-year-old's bravery and courage has inspired people from around the world.
A young boy named Daniel Christiansen was made an honorary fireman after his family learned that his medical condition Neuroblastoma had been diagnosed as terminal by his doctors, and the young boy was estimated to have only three weeks to live.
Initially the boys' parents asked their local fire station to honor Daniel's dream of riding on a fire truck, but the Lincoln City Volunteer Firefighters not only granted that wish, but so much more!
They set up a Facebook page called Firefighters for Team Daniel which quickly earned 18,000 likes from firefighters all over the world. He was made an honorary fireman not only in his own Oregon hometown, but also was made an honorary fireman in many other districts across the nation!
Unfortunately, on March 6th, Daniel passed away in his sleep.
Here's what the Firefighters for Team Daniel's Facebook page said:
"Today we celebrate Firefighter Daniel Vincent Christiansen's life. Brother Daniel passed peacefully in his sleep at 4:05am PST.
At this time we ask, out of respect for the family, that they not be contacted directly. Team Daniel will be offline for 24 hours. At which time we should have an official statement. Any correspondence or questions should be sent to:
directly & not any agency that has shown support in this effort, Team Daniel will not be corresponding or answering questions for at least the 24 hour period of silence.
We love you Daniel."
The tragic news, however, doesn't mean the family still doesn't need help paying the medical bills they have.
Check out that page HERE and you can learn how to support this grieving family — they've raised over $3,000 which is a lot but short of their $10,000 goal.
Rest in peace, Daniel Christiansen.
