He used to be a Street Fighting Man, and now he's a children's book author!
The Rolling Stones' guitarist Keith Richards has penned a children's picture book titled Gus and Me: The Story of My Granddad and My First Guitar, and it'll be coming to book stores on September 9th!
Keith penned the words while Theodora created the illustrations, and we're sure once we start reading this — not even Wild Horses will be able to drag us away!
The inspiration for the book was partly from a short story in Keith's memoir Life where he recalled when his grandfather Gus first turned him onto music.
Keith explained a little bit more about the book in a statement. He said:
"I have just become a grandfather for the fifth time, so I know what I'm talking about. The bond, the special bond, between kids and grandparents is unique and should be treasured. This is a story of one of those magical moments. May I be as great a grandfather as Gus was to me."
His daughter Theodora had this to say:
"When I found out they wanted me to be a part of this project, my immediate instinct was to say yes, and I am so happy I did. To be able to explore my father's relationship with his grandfather was a gift in itself. The things that I've learnt during this whole process have just been life affirming."
Aww! Sounds like they had so much fun creating this together!
Talk about some father-daughter teamwork!
We'll definitely be shining a light on this collaboration for children once it's finally released!
