A 6-year-old cancer patient named Joey Mausser got to experience something very special this past Sunday morning. In fact it's something not a lot of people ever get to experience!
The adorable young child was the sole person in charge of pushing a button that would implode a 100-year-old Des Moines building, and the little one was SO excited to do it!
But it wasn't just Joey who got in the action. His brother Nick had the super important job of screaming "Fire in the Hole" which he did with tons of gusto!
Joey's family allowed their little one to participate in the event after making a winning bid at the Festival of Trees and Lights Gala. Joey is a patient at the Blank Children’s Hospital. The implosion of the building that used to be the Iowa Methodist School of Nursing happened before sunrise. The mother said:
“After this, hopefully we’ll have a low-key day and just talk about it all.”
Good luck with that momma! These kids are way TOO excited to do anything low key for the rest of the day, ha!
Felicia Allen was hired as a part-time cashier at Hobby Lobby in Mississippi before learning she was pregnant -- it wasn't long at all after she started her new job that she found out she was four months pregnant with her third child.
Since she only just started her job, she was unable to qualify for the federal Family Leave Medical Act. So she talked to her supervisor.
