It’s a 9-1-1 operator’s job to stay calm in the midst of an emergency.
But a dispatcher in Georgia had her nerves put to the test when she answered a call coming in about her own father!
Crystal Morrow was only four hours into her FIRST shift as a 9-1-1 operator when she picked up on her Aunt Gail calling to report that Crystal’s dad, a diabetic, was incoherent!
Although the caller I.D. informed Crystal that the call was coming from her aunt, she is legally not allowed to inform callers who she is, even if they are family!
Crystal described the moment she knew the man in danger was her dad, explaining:
"I heard her voice and I saw her name pop up on the screen. I said, 'Wait, that is my aunt.’ I did freeze, my hands froze over the keyboard, but I knew I had to get the call in.”
Crystal continued to walk her aunt through life saving procedures while sending paramedics en route to help her own father!
In the end, her dad ended up surviving!
It’s sort of AH-Mazing that Crystal answered the call in the first place, considering the dispatch room that day had as many as 12 people on duty, with more than 3,000 calls coming in on any average day!
Press PLAY below to hear the incredible moment when Crystal got put to the test and saved her dad’s life!
Way to go, girl!
