It’s Holy Week for Catholics around the world right now and a school in Brazil decided to celebrate with some of their students.

But what they did has a whole lot of people around the world in shock!

Ch-ch-check out the picture above of these VERY young school children re-enacting the crucifixion of Jesus!

You can see that Kid Jesus is wrapped in only a loin cloth and has been given painted-on wounds throughout his body! He also has a crown of thorns on his head while he mocks being nailed to a wooden cross!

Wowowow! Is that really appropriate??

Other children around him play the parts of Jesus’s mother Mary and Mary Magdalene, as well as Roman soldiers.

The exact age of the kids or the school where this took place is unknown but the picture has been shared online hundreds of thousands of times already!

Several commenters expressed their outrage to see this sort of demonstration with youngsters.

Many more say that children, especially those in the most Catholic country in the world, have a right to learn the true meaning of Easter.

What do you think, Perezcious readers?

Is it appropriate for these young kids to re-enact Jesus's crucifixion at school??

When you grow up in a Catholic school like I did its a regular thing to see the crucifix everywhere. If you're going to shove an image like that in children's faces its smart to explain to them why and how it happened. If they already know and see about the crucifixion of Jesus its not exactly a surprise for these kids to act it out.

These kids are way to young! to reenact the Crucifixion!!! they should be playing with Easter eggs , jellybeans and the Easter Bunny!! plenty of time when they get older to reenact such a serious subject as the Crucifixion!! WTF is wrong with you Perez for even posting such ridiculousness!

    Re: Franidani123

with all the respect Easter eggs , jellybeans and the Easter Bunny! are not part of their traditions, crucifixion is, it´s just an act, like a stage play and it's very common on catholics since childhood specially in latin america, it´s no big deal and should not be the cause of international outrage!!

This is maximum brainwashing and must be discontinued. It is absolutely crazy to condone this kind of behavior.

Of course that's more offensive to the self-righteous atheists and Westerners, than to see an image of a young Muslim girl, married to an old man..

"One sees there all your good judgement." Clap.. Clap.. Clap..

Do not try to tell me otherwise.. For the sake's of Sanity!
By the number of articles that people like you post against Christianity in comparison to the numbers of articles published by you, concerning atrocities committed on young Muslim girls..

    Why is this shocking?

They are reenacting an important part of biblical history and expressing their faith.

Funny, this is considered shocking, but when i turn on my TV and watch Tosh.0 and see practically gay porn being shown that doesn't make a headline ever.

Re: burn focker – Neither will you. You'll see. Your ignorant beliefs in fairy tales is absurd. Stop reading fiction (Bible) books and maybe try going to school and learn some real facts.

Stop reading fiction (Bible) books and maybe try going to school and learn some real facts, people!! God is about as a real as the Easter fucking Bunny.

they see much worse on TV

at least they knows he truth, most christian parents are too busy with bunnies and eggs and chocolate that are rooted from a pagan ritual to tell them truth about Jesus. People get killed everyday by street kids in Brazil it's not like they are unfamiliar with hearing about death. At death this death brought redemption for all mankind.

We learned about the Crucifiction in elementary school. It was a Cathoilic school only it was the 7th graders that did the Passion re-enactment each year. I hardly think this is damaging or a mockery. But that's just my opinion.

if you are going to teach religion then it is NORMAL for children to enact it to make it easier for them to understand it.

I think faith is a beautiful thing and when kids grow up they can decide for themselves what to believe. I appreciate being raised catholic even though I no longer practice. I think it gave me a moral foundation and provided a community growing up.
