Francis Schmidt, a popular professor at Bergen Community College in NJ, was suspended for the dumbest reason we've ever heard.
He shared a photo of his super cute daughter on Google+ (imagine that!), and in it she was laying down in an oversized Game Of Thrones shirt.
The shirt read:
"I will take what is mine with fire and blood."
That's a line that Daenerys Targaryen, mother of dragons (played by the incredibly hot Emilia Clarke), said.
It's cool and super badass and awesome and the ignorant school administrators didn't understand it. What do people do when they don't understand something? They fear it.
So of course they reacted by suspending the professor.
Schmidt was called in for a meeting about his "threatening email" and he had to explain where the quote came from and how awesome Game Of Thrones is. The school's administration told him that "fire" could be a metaphor for "AK-47s."
We're sorry but that's SO STUPID. And guess what… Schmidt was recently denied a sabbatical and had to file a grievance with the school.
So of course they're upset with him and they latched onto this opportunity to suspend him.
He's on administrative leave without pay and will have to pass a psychiatric evaluation before he can return. He had apparently already passed the same eval back in 2007.
Let him teach!
Oh, and quit being lame and watch the show before you judge!
