As good as the graphics are on Call of Duty, one kid's first-person shooter experience got WAY too real this week!
Long Island teenager Rafael Castillo was playing the popular video game against an unknown opponent online. When Castillo ended up winning, the sore loser at the other end decided to get back at him with a “swatting” prank!
We’ve reported on “swatting" before, usually to celebrity victims. Police receive a random tip describing a horrific crime. When they show up at the scene though, they realize they’ve been duped into responding to a hoax and in the process, scare the hell out of the unsuspecting resident.
And that’s exactly what happened to Rafael, who had SWAT teams, helicopters and emergency vehicles descend upon his house, all because his opponent called police, posing as Castillo, telling them:
"I just killed my mother and I might shoot more people!”
Wow. Not cool, dude!
After a TWO-HOUR standoff, authorities realized Castillo was not a dangerous threat. His mother was alive and home at the time. His brother Jose had arrived home from school when he saw the commotion. He explained:
"I thought there was a fire at my house. I ran up and saw my mom running out, I didn’t know what was going on.”
As chaotic as this all was, police were unable to get Rafael to come outside because he was glued to his video game with his headphones on and had no idea what was happening outside!
Cops are now trying to track down the prankster that pulled this so-not-funny stunt.
On officer commented:
"It was probably just an evil little kid.”
Regardless of how old he is, we sure hope authorities find him and teach him a lesson!
Our suggestion? A life sentence of no video games! It’s probably for the best - this kid evidently sucks at COD anyway!
