Boston Mom Gives Birth To 14.5 Pound Baby! See The Insanely Squishy Cheeks HERE!

| Filed under: Baby BlabberCute!FamilyCuteness!Cute KidzPerezcious Parenting

A Boston mother was shocked when she gave birth to a 14.5 pound baby!

We thought Prince George had adorably chubby cheeks, but this newborn gal might just have him beat!

Little baby Carisa Ruscak was born at Massachusetts General Hospital on Tuesday, although "little" probably isn't the best word to describe the infant who weighed in at 14.5 pounds and 22 inches long!

The big size definitely came as a surprise to everyone in the delivery room, but momma Caroline Ruscak said it definitely made sense considering the pain she experienced during her pregnancy:

"I heard the weight and I was like, 'Oh my God.' It validated me because I was in a lot of pain when I was pregnant, so to hear the size, it made sense."

Not only that, but Caroline and her husband Bryan Ruscak's first daughter weighed in at 10.5 pounds at birth, so they knew there was a chance they'd have another big baby!

Carisa is the largest baby to be born at Massachusetts General Hospital in more than a decade and will likely be the largest baby born in the state this year!

Caroline gave birth via C-section, but fortunately there were no complications and both momma bear and her little princess are 100% healthy!

Congrats, guys!

This is because the mother is obese. It's absolutely disgusting and a shame. The baby probably already has type 2 diabetes. When will we get real about the obesity crisis in this country? Why is it not okay/politically correct to talk about this? Ugh….

Kathy-I agree and you can see that they are both obese and they think it is ok when it is disgusting. They need to diet and workout.

I can almost guarantee she had Gestational Diabetes and that's why this kid is so huge. So either it was never diagnosed and treated properly or she did not control her blood sugar levels with her diet and possible insulin for management of this condition. Shame on the doctor and her- she could have put that baby's life at risk.

I am obese. The biggest baby I had was 8lbs 90z and that was my 3rd. My 2nd was 7lbs 1oz and I had gestational Diabetes so Kathy your "theory" is bullshit. We'd have a lot more ten pounders if that was true.

You people saying that its because momma and daddy are fat, you all are idiots. My mom was heavy when she had me and my brother and we both were under 6 pounds. Go jump off a cliff and stop saying that being fat is "shameful" and stop hating on people just because they have extra weight. Like your so damn perfect. Better make sure to reinforce your glass houses before you start throwing stones, they are coming right back at ya!

WOW…I have never commented on these but feel the need to since some people are so misinformed. Is the mother obese…yes absolutely. Is the father obese….yes absolutely. The fact that she had a big baby IS probably due to the fact that she had uncontrolled gestational diabetes and not the fact that she is "fat" as Kathy has suggested below. I am a nurse on a mother baby floor and realize that gestational diabetes is a huge problem and should be more controlled by both doctors and patients themselves. Now if you're saying that a mother or a father should not have babies because they have a weight problem I can also argue the fact that an ignorant person with no compassion should not be allowed to have children for the fear of raising them with the same POOR attitude toward society.

Gestational diabetes will do that… unhealthy.

The original article he linked to says, "Neither baby Carisa, nor her mother have diabetes." The video said "…diabetes was not a factor." I would've put money on gestational diabetes, but I guess not.

Re: NEW ORLEANS HONEY – Well I think it is wonderful they have a new baby girl.
My sister's son was 11.5lbs and she finally had to have a Caesarian after being in labor for a LONG time.
I wish this family nothing but the best!
