Here it comes!
X-Men: Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer issued a public statement on the sexual assault allegations issued by Michael Egan for the first time!
Here's what he said in a statement, which has come 8 days after the legal filings and dark accusations:
“The allegations against me are outrageous, vicious and completely false. I do not want these fictitious claims to divert ANY attention from X-Men: Days of Future Past. This fantastic film is a labor of love and one of the greatest experiences of my career. So, out of respect to all of the extraordinary contributions from the incredibly talented actors and crew involved, I’ve decided not to participate in the upcoming media events for the film. However, I promise when this situation is over, the facts will show this to be the sick twisted shake down it is. I want to thank fans, friends and family for all their amazing and overwhelming support.”
We're not totally shocked that he won't be participating in the media events for the film, yet it's still a significant development considering he's the DIRECTOR of the film!
We wonder if he made this decision himself, or if the distributors of the film nudged him in that direction.
Nevertheless, this is a HUGE statement! Egan is alleging that he had been coerced into sex by Singer (and three others) in California and Hawaii in 1998 and 1999.
This is developing… more to come!
