The silver lining of this horrendous accident is it could've been much worse.
In California, a school bus loaded with teenagers crashed into a tree at the Anaheim Hill Golf Course, and left the driver and two other students with critical injuries. The injuries are not considered life threatening, luckily.
The school bus was in fact carrying ELEVEN students, and that nine of them escaped with minor injuries is pretty remarkable.
The school bus driver, Gerald Rupple, does not appear to have braked before the collision which means the bus went into the tree at full force. At least one witness claims the driver passed out before the accident happened.
Mr. Rupple has worked full time as a bus driver for the Orange Unified School District since 2010.
Some of the unharmed students described the incredibly scary accident. One said:
“I heard all this crashing next to me and I was freaking out, and I’m like, oh my gosh I don’t know what to do and I started calling my bus drivers name. He wasn’t moving at all.”
“We started driving down the hill. It went sideways and I heard a lot of thumps and stuff from people hitting things.”
Ugh it's so awful that something like this happened to middle school children, and we sincerely hope the bus driver and the two teens who were injured make a speedy recovery.
It's incredible that there weren't more injuries considering the impact and damage of the vehicle.
