This is so incredibly awful, we don't even know where to start.
276 Nigerian schoolgirls were kidnapped from a secondary school in the village of Chibok, northeast Nigeria, and now an Islamist militant group called Boko Haram has claimed responsibility for the mass abductions.
"I abducted your girls. I will sell them in the market, by Allah. There is a market for selling humans. Allah says I should sell. He commands me to sell. I will sell women. I sell women."
The group, Boko Haram, listed as a terrorist organization by the U.S., literally translates to "Western education is sin."
The girls were all kidnapped on April 14th and almost NOTHING has been done to bring them home — even though 53 girls HAVE returned, it was only because they escaped! They saved themselves!
Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan didn't truly address the issue until parents began protesting and bringing international media attention to their plight using things like the hashtag #bringbackourgirls.
He finally took some form of action, saying on Sunday:
"Wherever these girls are, we'll get them out."
The problem is the government has taken so long to do anything, the families are getting restless and distrustful.
Things were made even worse after the President's wife, First Lady Patience, had a community activist arrested for organizing a protest outside parliament in the capital, Abuja.
Another community leader accused the First Lady of saying the activists have fabricated the abductions to give the government a bad name!
Uhh, we're pretty sure arresting the leader of a protest against the government's inaction in regards to over 200 kidnapped girls is what gives a government a bad name.
Check out the video (below) to hear President Jonathan speak out on the mass kidnapping.
