This teacher should absolutely be fired!!!
Nicole McVey is an elementary school teacher at Oaktree Elementary School in Goodrich, Michigan who has somehow kept her job even after showing a remarkably nasty streak last year.
The teacher filmed one of her students, an 11-year-old autistic child, after he got his head stuck in his chair.
Instead of assisting the boy with Asperger's syndrome, she instead taunted him while recording the incident on her cellphone. She asks the boy in the video, "Do you want to get tasered?" before the frickin' principal, Michael Ellis, arrives to announce the maintenance crew is on their way although the incident was "not an emergency in their book".
The incident happened in November, and the footage was later handed over to a news station by the boy's family. One teacher, responsible for reporting bullying, got ahold of the footage and reported it to administrators.
While the principal has since resigned, the tenured teacher has fought against the school board's initial decision to vote to fire her. However, for some reason, the school board has elected to suspend the teacher for a year instead of firing her.
The decision was reached after many parents rallied to support the teacher. Many of whom claim the teacher did not mean "taser" in terms of a stun gun, but rather was a name to describe a way of tickling a child.
Wow. The fact that she filmed the student in distress is reason enough to fire her, right? Without going into discussion of what kind of "taser" she was referring to.
The teacher did write a letter of apology to the boy's parents, but come on - does the punishment really fit the crime?
We're not sure which parents would want their kids in Nicole McVey's classroom. A classroom she seems ready to take over again in a year.
