A father in Hawaii is receiving a punishment himself for punishing his son.
The man, Robert Demond, received a year of probation and a $200 fine for making his son walk a mile home from school to discipline him.
Judge Kathleen Watanabe called Robert's punishment "old-school" and said it was no longer appropriate.
So Robert made him walk home to think about what he had done. He said that was a common form of punishment when he was growing up.
The judge said that times are different, child predators and traffic and all.
Robert has to attend a parenting class now because he was convicted of a misdemeanor, endangering the welfare of a minor.
Hopefully next time he'll realize the danger inherent in letting his child walk home alone.
