robert downey jr releases statement son indio downey arrest

Such a good dad response!

When Robert Downey Jr.’s son Indio was arrested for cocaine possession, our thoughts immediately went to the actor and support that he could provide his son.

And that’s just what he’s doing!

Robert released a statement, saying:

“Unfortunately there's a genetic component to addiction and Indio has likely inherited it. Also, there is a lot of family support and understanding, and we’re all determined to rally behind him and help him become the man he's capable of being… We’re grateful to the Sheriff’s department for their intervention, and believe Indio can be another recovery success story instead of a cautionary tale.”

Yes! We believe in him too!

Support is key to this type of thing, and it seems like he’s got lots of it!

Sorry, that's bullshit. Drug abuse is a choice. Maybe he's abusing drugs because he grew up seeing his father do it. You know what's genetic? Sickle cell disease, hemophilia, some cancers, CMT disease. You know what's choice? Sticking a needle in your arm, snorting a white powder up your nose, drinking yourself into oblivion.

Re: So What – Ignorance! Addiction is similar to cancer: there is no cure. People only call it cured 'cos the illness' concept is easier to grasp. Such illnesses can only go into remissionor hopefully in complete remision. However, complete remission only means it's not a problem at the moment but could come back anytime. It's a lifetime threat!

Hope he can overcome his problems. My brother died at an early age (52) due to hear failure that we are convinced was brought on by his use of crustal meth which apparently weakens the heart.
