Teen Takes An Offensive Smiling Selfie In Front Of Auschwitz & Loves The ‘Fame’ It Gave Her

| Filed under: Wacky, Tacky & TrueSad Sad

girl takes selfie at concentration camp offensive

Some people just don’t get it.

Even after studying the history of the Holocaust with her father, who sadly passed away, teen Breanna Mitchell somehow still doesn’t get it.

She posted a picture of herself smiling in front of the Nazi concentration camp, Auschwitz, which obviously started offending people. So, she took it down, but not before some news outlets had already picked up the story.

THEN Miz Mitchell’s reaction was even worse, posting the screenshot (above) and tweeting, “I’m famous yall.”

Gurl, NOT cool!

We get it. She studied the death camps with her dad, who tragically never made it on the trip there with her, so she was happy she was able to go. But you’d think that someone who learned so much about this horrific place would understand why it’s not the time or place for a smiling selfie!

There’s nothing about this place that should make anyone smile!

Breanna is still young, and we have faith that eventually she’ll understand why this is so not okay. For now though, we’d encourage her to stop thinking that Nazi death camp fame is a good thing.

Because you can't smile there…… It's against the rules…… News must be slow today if news outlets cared about this…

Re: Mallory – If you don't 'get this', shame on you and whoever raised you also.

    Re: Mallory
Ummm Why would any normal person smile in there?

Lol is it illegal to smile there. Should she have taken a selfie of her crying instead Lol.

She is a vapid teenager. She doesn't think about anything more important than what shirt she will wear with what pants. I am getting so sick of you sounding so morally superior to people Perez. Like with Jason Biggs or this stupid teenager. You ran a website that bullied people for YEARS and when you were a LOT older than this girl. A year ago you were profiting off of and tormenting Amanda Bynes when it was CLEAR she had a serious mental illness and you did so for months. Even after so many of us asked you to quit targeting her. You even wore a "Free Amanda" shirt and posed smiling and having a good time at parties. Then you post something like this or question whether Jason Biggs should even be able to keep his job? You are the epitome of hypocrisy….you make me sick.

My old high school does March of The Living there every year with many of the seniors and I've seen a lot of people do that. It's not that shocking… I'm sure she wasn't disrespecting the camp. She was taking a photo.

    What the big deal???
    She killed no one???
    Is smiling a crime???
there was nothing there and she took the pic for fun
Some people really need to grow up

Notice how she's being cyber harassed but the article only notes HER defending tweets. She was just clearly cyber bullied and nothing was being done. People blow shit out of the water way too often.

she's clearly just happy to be there and has a love and passion for history…. I'm an ashkenazi jew descended from poland, and I do not find this offensive at all. she did not say anything malicious.. she's a young girl who is happy to be there to learn all of the history. give her a break

    Breaking news:

"Self-involved teenagers who take constant selfies, too self-involved to understand gravity of Auschwitz"

    This makes it news!
How about the Israelis picnicking on hill tops and cheering for the killings of innocent Palestinians. There is nothing about death that people should be smiling about. Hate the biased media!

OMG this is so stupid! Its like saying you cant smile when you took a picture in the Pyramids in Mexico because thousand of Aztecs were killed by the Spanish

  13. jd says – reply to this

well, have anyone of you been there? because i have and i cannot imagine being in a good mood when visiting.
it's not about whether you can or cannot smile. it's just the way normal human brain should work.
if you have no idea what are you talking about, just don't speak.

Cover something that's relative @perezhilton. So what if she took a selfie it isn't against the rules. What's against the rules is how Israel is bombing children and women, and making their own concentration camp of Gaza as we speak right now. That deserves coverage, not a teen smiling because she doesn't know any better. #realtalk

Would people stop taking everything so fooking serious all the time - nothing's wrong with this selfie in my eyes and also not with the obviously ironic tweet she is famous now which you all made her.

  16. 16

    Re: FAIL
Well I would smile there too because I would be on holiday.

I cried a lot in Berlin when I was visiting the Jewish museum cause it's not right what happens - but honestly what did we learn? Now the Jews treat the people of Palestina the same - even they should know better…

People are too fucking sensitive today. She smiled, get over it. She isn't smiling at what it represents, she smiles because she made it there.

The jews have nothing to complain about. They got to live rent free.

Re: Emmanemma – And how do you know that she a vapid teenager who doesn't thing about anythign more important that what shirt she will. you don't.

Re: kate – OMG……so totally missed the point of this entire post……

  21. Mallory says – reply to this

Re: Pink Mafia – You obviously don't "get it" because you're too damned sensitive. It was a smile, not her doing some military Hitler march…

  22. 22

Re: jd – and so because you wouldn't smile in a photo therefore it's not a natural thing for a person to do??? You're honestly going to live your life in a small little box where your feelings and actions are the only appropriate socially acceptable ones?

  23. stina says – reply to this

all you people who don't think its a big deal….Travel to Poland and go see it for yourself I guarantee you will walk out with the same disgust I have for this little girl. I was there two years ago and I still have nightmares.

  24. Peaclover says – reply to this

Thats just as an offensive as taking picture infront of an Israeli flag. What people don't get is than nazism is over, zionism is the new nazi. Benjamin (Israels prime minister) is the new Hitler, and Israel is today a country that has a mix of South-Africans ex apartheid regime and the German nazi regime. That this is tolerate and acceptable is a WAAAAY bigger crime and shame than this innocent girls selfie. I rest my case!
