We can all learn a little something from this lady.
In 2006 the whole world was shocked to see the passing of Crocodile Hunter star Steve Irwin after a freak sting ray attack, but no one was more upset than his daughter Bindi Irwin.
Recently, the 15-year-old teenager, who lives in Queensland, Australia with her mom Terri and 10-year-old brother Robert, spoke about losing her father and all of the pain that came with such a traumatic event.
Here's what she said:
"I remember after we lost Dad, so many adults came up to me and said, 'Honey, time heals all wounds'. That is the biggest lie you will ever hear. It doesn't. That kind of sadness never goes away. It's like losing a piece of your heart that you never get back."
However, that sadness seems to have given Bindi more wisdom and knowledge than most of her peers as her words speak volumes about her maturity - both intellectually and emotionally!
Here's what she also said:
"When you lose a loved one, you come to these crossroads. You can take the path that leads you down the aisle of sadness, or you can say, 'I'm never going to let this person's memory die. I'm going to make sure everything they worked for continues.' "
To stay on the positive side of the fence and not the sad side - the inspiring lady treats every day in her life as a new journey. And that approach definitely has her feeling like a lucky lady! She said:
"Every day is a new journey for me and I feel like in my lifetime, I've been blessed to experience such a lot."
We don't think we've EVER seen such a mature fifteen-year-old before. One should never lose a parent in such a traumatic and heartbreaking way, but Bindi has dealt with life's blows about as well as one can.
Hopefully life will be a little more kind in the future to this wonderful young person.
