deadly crash kills 18 children in india after a train hit their school bus

We send our sincerest sympathies and prayers to their family members.

Eighteen children and one school bus driver were killed in a horrific and deadly crash that involved a school bus filled with children and a train that occurred at an unmanned railroad crossing.

Another 20 children, who are between the ages of 7 and 14, were hospitalized with varying injuries. Fifteen of the children are in critical condition.

The accident happened on Thursday near the Masaipet village in Medak district. Locals around the area rushed to the scene and helped some of the children while they waited for emergency workers to arrive on the scene.

Many parents were in shock when receiving word of the accident while other angry villagers rushed to the scene to throw rocks at police. One father, who lost both of his children in the deadly crash, died of a heart attack upon hearing the news.

No one on the train was hurt.

India's railroad network is a notorious breeding ground for accidents which especially sucks since 23 million people ride the trains daily. There are apparently hundreds of unmanned railroad crossings around the country like the one where this fatal accident occurred.

Our dearest condolences to the parents of any of the children on the school bus or any loved ones of the bus driver who was killed.

We wish the surviving children a quick and complete recovery.
