Jennifer Aniston Drops Some Serious Truth About Motherhood And Marriage Not Determining Her 'Value As A Woman'

| Filed under: Jennifer AnistonBaby Blabber

jennifer aniston gets real about motherhood and marriage and feminism

She is absolutely right!!

Jennifer Aniston sat down with Carson Daly during an interview for Today this week, and none of it was fluff. In fact, she set some things straight and told it like it 100% is: her marriage status and how many kids she does or doesn't have has NO BEARING on how much of a woman she is.

The pressure on women to get married and have babies is unfairly huge to begin with, but we'd have to say it's always seemed to be dumped tenfold onto Jen.

Here's what she had to say:

"I don't have this sort of checklist of things that have to be done, and…if they're not checked, then I've failed some part of my feminism or my being a woman or my worth and my value as a woman because I haven't birthed a child. I've birthed a lot of things, and I feel like I've mothered many things. And I don't feel like it's fair to put that pressure on people."

That's awesome, right? Of course it is! It's amazeballs!

The only thing we'd change, though, has nothing to do with the quote itself — but rather in one of the source articles. Right in the middle of that empowering quote, US Weekly recognized her as "Brad Pitt's ex-wife."

"[…]Brad Pitt's ex-wife continued."

Yep. Right in the middle of her talking about her feminist status, about her struggle to stay true to herself, they thought it was best to define her as Brad's ex-wife.

We feel like that's missing the point of what she's trying to say entirely.

And let us say this: her point is flawless. She is no less a woman for her own personal decisions, and the fact that she's making them for herself regardless of what others say proves the exact opposite.

Do you, Jen.

P.S. — If U haven't seen Jennifer's Friends reunion yet, you can peep that HERE.

I totally agree with her. There are ways for a woman to fulfill herself other than motherhood. But it does seem that she capitalizes off marriage and pregnancy rumors. Just like she has capitalized off being Brad's ex.

Good for her for sticking to her convictions. Not everyone wants to get married. Not everyone wants to have kids.

She seems like a broken record to me. All that she seems to be discussing is her marriage to brad pitt and there breakup, to life without brad pitt, to kids/not having kids etc etc.

Remember when her and Brad first split and the rumour was that it was due to her not wanting to have kids and he wanted a big family? Then she spewed all this crap about how that's untrue and that she wants kids.

Yet here we are years later, still no kids and her tune has now changed to she does't want children? Guess she needed to play up the jilted woman scenario to keep her name in the A list, instead of owning up to the fact that perhaps something as fundamental as kids was the reason her relationship ended.

It is a good thing she doesn't have child. Go figure what would have been the world with several (egomaniacs) individuals such as her.

I am a women with no children and I find it very annoying when people ask, right after they ask if I am married, do you have children. It is like an automatic question. I just don't get it. Why does it have to be asked at all. It is okay for women to choose not to have children and it is okay for women to feel that its okay and to say so!

Kids aren't for everyone. Plus, she's 45, maybe she's just being realistic and doesn't want to start having babies at this age. She and her partner can have a great life together without being married or having kids.
