Pretty sure Tina Fey and Amy Poehler would disagree with this way of thinking.
The firm Slater & Gordon conducted a survey of 500 managers and found some incredibly startling and very illegal results that have to do with hiring women in the workplace.
Apparently more than 40% of the people surveyed admitted to being weary of hiring a woman who is close to the 'childbearing' time of her life… because maternity leave is too high of a cost.
AND around the same amount of people admitted that they were ALSO hesitant to hire a woman for a senior role in the company if she's already had a child.
Uh, so this rules out a majority of women?
Not only this, but the survey found out that 44% of the managers admitted they would rather hire a young man to get around the issue of maternity leave.
Oh, and the best part? 1/3 of the managers claimed that when women returned from maternity leave, they're 'not as good' at their jobs.
So, there's that. Companies are still hiring for positions based on these archaic principles.
Remember that time that this is ILLEGAL and also completely F*CKED UP?!?!
Come on, people. It's 2014, get it together.
