We knew this flick would have a big weekend, but WOW!
Furious 7 premiered worldwide this weekend, smashing box office records left and right. Domestically it earned $143 on opening weekend, and abroad it earned another $240.
These are humongous April numbers! The next closest was Captain America: The Winter Soldier which made $95 million, in comparison. It's also the biggest opening weekend of 2015, a record which was previously held by Fifty Shades of Grey's $85 million.

The $2.4 billion franchise expects to continue to break records with this film, but they'll have some challengers, like Avengers: Age of Ultron, which premieres on May 1st.
There's one big reason why this flick is doing so well though, and that's the fact that is spans most demographics. This weekend, the breakdown of Furious 7 moviegoers was 44 percent under 25 years old, 37 percent of whom were Hispanic, 25 percent were Caucasian, 24 percent were African American, and 10 percent were Asian.
Of course, a big draw for the film was that it was Paul Walker's last, following his tragic death in 2013. But overall, fans just really love this franchise.
It will be exciting to see how much this film continues to earn!
