Glee has a history of featuring AH-mazing actresses as mothers to the members of New Directions…
Ryan Murphy cast Idina Menzel as Lea Michele's mamma, while Gloria Estefan KILLED it as Naya Rivera's sweet and sassy mom, AND Jacob Artist gets to pretend he passed through the loins of Aisha Tyler!
And NOW Mr.Murphs has chosen the legendary Katey Sagal, who voices ass-kicking cyclops Leela in Futurama AND plays an equally badass character on Sons of Anarchy, to play the part of Kevin McHale AKA Artie's mother in the upcoming Stevie Wonder tribute episode!!
Ryan tweeted the news Thursday, posting:
More Ryan Murphy-created television??!
Don't mind if we do!!!
Ryan is shopping around our next favorite cable TV series and it sounds very scandalous.
We don't know much yet, but we do know Open will revolve around a modern, racy exploration of sex and relationships.
..AND THAT'S JUST ENOUGH TO GET US REALLY EXCITED.
We're not the only ones, though! Of course, there are already multiple networks bidding on the sure-fire success.
We'll never understand the genius of Ryan. How can he develop American Horror Story AND Glee AND still have more creativity pouring out of him!
Does this man sleep??!
Regardless, we're not complaining! We are more than happy to sit back and enjoy!!!

This poor guy must be going through hell right now, so we're so DELIGHTED to see so many sharing their messages of love and support for him during such a difficult time in his life!
After Cory Monteith announced Sunday night that he would be checking into rehab to receive treatment for substance abuse issues, his girlfriend Lea Michele immediately announced that she would be standing by her man as he gets healthy, as well as Glee creator Ryan Murphy!
And now, various members of the smash FOX series' cast are taking to Twitter to continue letting the 30-year-old know how BRAVE they think his decision to seek help was, including Amber Riley, Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz, Harry Shum, Jr., Dot-Marie Jones and Iqbal Theba!
Ch-ch-check 'em all out (below):
And the love just keeps pouring in!
Following girlfriend Lea Michele's statement, Ryan Murphy has now stepped up to publicly announce that he stands by Cory Monteith after the Glee star entered rehab yesterday.
By this point, you certainly know our stance!
We firmly believe deep down in the depths of our Zac Efron-encrusted hearts that marriage is a RIGHT that should be available to every single person alive!!
No couple in love should be denied the right to marry on the grounds of gender or sexual orientation!
But we aren't the only outspoken supporters of marriage equality, not even close!
Many of our favorite celebz took the good fight to Twitter today, see what they're saying …AFTER THE JUMP!!!
It's jitterbug time, Gleeks!
Glee and George Michael go together like peas and carrots!
Like Siskel & Ebert! Like Starsky & Hutch! Like the H.M.S. Titanic and icebergs!
We're surprised it Ryan Murphy and co. this long to cover Wham!'s
most only infectious hit!
Surprise, surprise — they absolutely SLAY IT! But don't take our word for it…
Ch-ch-check out the Glee club's fiercely fabulous performance of Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go (above)!
Yessss!! It's ah-mazing! It's perfect!
And you can catch it again on tonight on Fox!
Yes! Yes! Yes!
For its first two seasons, American Horror Story has had its fair share of ghosts, devil babies, serial killer, mutants, aliens, and now, it's officially confirmed that for the third season…WITCHES are coming!
So many, in fact, that the official title has been revealed to be American Horror Story: Coven!
Series creator Ryan Murphy made the announcement during the 2013 PaleyFest Panel last night, while also not only CONFIRMING that Kathy Bates will be going head-to-head with alum Jessica Lange for this installment of the anthology frightfest, but that as speculated, production will move on-location to New Orleans!
And that may just be the START!
